As a seasoned observer of politics and someone who has lived through several presidential election cycles, I can’t help but feel a sense of intrigue and excitement about the unfolding events in the Democratic Party. Joe Biden’s historic decision to step down from the 2024 presidential race has left us with an unprecedented situation: Kamala Harris as the frontrunner but not yet the certain nominee.

Two notable figures, Spike Lee and Katy Perry, have recently expressed their endorsement for Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s pick for president.

On Sunday, the acclaimed filmmaker with an Oscar to her name, age 67, used Instagram to praise Vice President Kamala Harris after Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race. She expressed her admiration by posting, “Once more, a sister steps in to save the day.”

As a devoted fan of Perry, the singer-songwriter who is 39 years old, I can’t help but express my excitement and support for her chosen candidate. Hours after hearing the news that Joe Biden endorsed Kamala Harris as his potential successor, I found myself inspired to share my enthusiasm. So, I recorded a brief video of me singing the lyrics to my latest song, Woman’s World, and proudly posted it online.

In her Instagram video, she sang, “This world belongs to women, and you’re fortunate to be a part of it.” She titled the post simply, “Here’s the caption.”

Lee and Perry openly endorsed Biden during his campaign for the presidency four years ago. The renowned actor implored voters to “take the side of history” when voting in the 2020 election, while Perry praised Biden’s selection of Harris as his vice presidential pick, labeling her “the experienced leader we need at this critical moment.”

As an obsessed fan, I’ve been eagerly following every development in the Democratic primary race. And let me tell you, the recent endorsement of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris by some major A-list celebrities has me absolutely thrilled!

During his re-election campaign, Lee openly spoke out against Donald Trump and encouraged voters to make historically significant choices when they went to the polls.

At the Oscars in February 2019, as Lee received the award for best adapted screenplay for BlacKkKlansman, he urged listeners during his speech to take action and participate in upcoming elections.

‘The 2020 presidential election is around the corner,’ he said at the time.

“Come on, everyone, let’s unite and take a stand on the good side of things. Choose love over hate. Let’s make decisions that history will look favorably upon. We all know what the right course of action is.”

Trump responded to Lee’s criticism by countering that she had taken a “racially charged swipe at my presidency.” He further asserted, “I’ve accomplished more for the African American community than most others have.”

Perry has openly expressed her disagreement with Trump. She showcased her disapproval by performing at the Democratic National Convention back in 2016 and publicly endorsed Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination that year.

In the 2020 election, following Biden’s announcement of Senator Harris as his running mate, Harris responded by sharing multiple images of themselves on social media.

I’ve been fortunate to develop a relationship with @kamalaharris over the years, and Joe Biden’s selection of her as his running mate speaks volumes about his judgment. Kamala is the experienced leader we need during these challenging times. (August 2020)

I’ve met people like her throughout my life – individuals who are dedicated, hardworking, and genuinely care about making a positive difference in their communities and countries. With less than three months until Election Day, her determination is palpable. She’s putting in the effort to ensure that our collective future is brighter, and I can’t help but be inspired by her commitment. Let’s join forces and make a difference together, Ya’ll!

After the recent election, I found myself in a controversial position when I shared that I had contacted my loved ones who had voted for the opposing candidate. I wanted to make it clear that while I don’t share their political views (“I don’t agree”), my love and support for them remains unchanged (“I love them”). I am here for them, ready to listen and continue our family bonds.

On Sunday evening, Lee and Perry paid heartfelt tributes to Harris following an outpouring of online appreciation from numerous A-list celebrities in Hollywood.

Cardi B, the rapper at 31 years old, referred back to her earlier comment endorsing Harris as the most suitable candidate, exclaiming, “I warned you all! Don’t underestimate me!”

“I told you all along that Kamala Harris would be the 2024 nominee, so let’s move on! Please stop teasing me!”

As someone who closely follows politics and pop culture, I can’t help but be intrigued by the interaction between Cardi B and President Joe Biden. When a user insinuated that Biden may have seen one of her videos, Cardi B playfully responded with “Omgg maybe he did.”

Charli XCX, aged 31, expressed her support for Kamala Harris on Twitter by writing, “Kamala is a cool kid” – a reference to the title of her earlier album this year. According to PopCrave, Harris then followed Charli XCX on Twitter in response.

Barbra Streisand, an acclaimed actress with numerous awards, spoke admiringly of Biden after his groundbreaking declaration.

Streisand, 82, remarked, “During his four-year tenure, Joe Biden made remarkable accomplishments that will be remembered in history.” She expressed her appreciation for his commitment to preserving our democratic values.

Cher, who is both a singer, actress, and TV personality at 78 years old, expressed: “I hadn’t watched TV or spoken to anyone, so I wasn’t aware of the occurrence. I strongly believe that for the United States to remain a democracy, the Democratic Party truly needs to think outside the box. ‘Winning is all’ doesn’t change anything; it’s essential to adapt and innovate during these trying times.”

Through various social media outlets, John Legend at the age of 45, expressed his perspective by stating, “Joe Biden’s first term in office has been the most impactful I’ve witnessed in my lifetime.”

The Grammy-winning artist shared his perspective on some significant achievements of the President.

I’ve had the privilege of living through some challenging times under the leadership of a remarkable leader. He not only guided us through the most devastating effects of the pandemic but also ensured that our nation bounced back stronger than ever before. His commitment to investing in infrastructure was unparalleled, and his initiative to make the largest investment in climate change solutions our country has ever seen left me in awe.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve under President Biden, but now it’s time for me to pass the torch. I wholeheartedly endorse Vice President Harris and pledge my full support to her campaign. Together, we can make a positive impact on people’s lives and create lasting change.

As an obsessed fan, I can’t help but express my deep admiration for his impressive accomplishment with this record, securing his reelection. Yet, no one is exempt from the relentless march of time and aging. I am profoundly thankful for his selfless act of putting country above personal gain, demonstrating grace and patriotism by choosing to step aside.

I’m eager to contribute my efforts towards bringing together the pro-democracy coalition and resisting Trump’s authoritarian and oppressive Project 2025. I strongly support Kamala Harris as our presidential candidate, and I’m thrilled at the prospect of assisting her in any capacity during this crucial fight.

At the age of 65, Curtis expressed her strong opinions repeatedly about significant shifts in the highest-ranking positions.

“I recently came across a heartfelt image of President Biden walking away from his speech with the American flag in the background. Moved by the moment, I felt compelled to express my admiration. ‘God bless you, @joebiden,’ I wrote. ‘Your LEADERSHIP, GRACE UNDER PRESSURE, STRENGTH, and RESILIENCE are truly inspiring. Your country THANKS YOU for your selfless SERVICE!'”

I’m a big advocate for transparency and authenticity in political endorsements. When Vice President Harris turned 59 and released her official photo, I took the opportunity to express my wholehearted support for her and Vice President Biden. So, next to her image, I penned down, “I proudly endorse @joebiden and @kamalaharris with all my heart.”

She is both trusted and proven, known for her strong advocacy towards women’s rights and racial equality. Her message carries a powerful tone of optimism and unity, aiming to bridge the gaps in our deeply divided nation.

Near a beautiful illustration of the first female Vice President, Kamala Harris, Curtis jotted down the casual expression, “Let’s Go, @kamalaharris.”

As a devoted supporter of Kamala Harris, I’m proud to express my endorsement through my social media channels. On Instagram Stories, I recently posted a picture of myself with Kamala and a thought-provoking TikTok video from Meidas Touch that highlights the differences between her and her potential opponent.

He also made a statement encouraging his fans to remain hopeful.

‘Let’s not start with Panic & Doom & Gloom energy. That is BENEATH us!!!!’ he wrote.

As an obsessed fan, I cannot stress enough how crucial this race is for us. We hold the power to win or lose it. You must comprehend the impact of our words and positive energy. Don’t let fear and panic take control. If you utter “we’re doomed!!!” then, unfortunately, we are doomed. Let’s not surrender in defeat! Instead, let us channel our energy into hope and determination to triumph.

Demi Lovato, aged 31, expressed her backing by posting a picture on social media of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden strolling on the White House lawn. She added the enthusiastic caption: “Here we go!” or “Let’s get started!” instead of “Let’s do this!”.

A second snap of her and the Vice President laughing together.

Debra Messing, 55-years-old, posted on social media a segment from MSNBC featuring hosts Rachel Maddow and Katie Tur praising Joe Biden as “an extraordinary man” and “a dedicated patriot.”

Additionally, she shared excerpts from an article titled “Biden Takes a Brave Stand. Democrats Should Capitalize on This Moment” in The New York Times editorial section.

She also shared the newspaper’s assessment of former President Donald Trump.

The 78-year-old was described as a repeat lawbreaker disregarding both the law and the Constitution, an unrepentant liar prioritizing only personal gain, and a careless decision-maker unconcerned about the welfare of American citizens.

I recently came across a post on Instagram from Amy Schumer. In her Stories, she shared a picture of herself with Joe Biden and captioned it with “Thanks Joe!” She added a light-hearted comment, saying, “This is us this morning.”

An earlier post featured a picture of Kamala Harris from Rolling Stone’s edition, accompanied by the message “Go Team! Supporting @kamalaharris all the way!”

Lisa Ann Walter, a 60-year-old actress on Abbott Elementary, endorsed Kamala Harris through an Emily’s List announcement. She also created a brief video in support of Harris, highlighting Harris’ achievements in comparison to Donald Trump’s convictions and imperfections.

Eva Longoria shared a photo on social media, sitting in a room with Harris and expressed her support for her presidential campaign, commending Joe Biden at the same time.

“I’m grateful for President Joe Biden’s dedication and applaud his courageous move to let a new candidate take over, all in the name of democracy and selfless leadership. I have faith in Kamala Harris and trust in our combined efforts to rally and triumph together!” (Desperate Housewives star, 49)

I, as an ardent admirer of Rosario Dawson, couldn’t help but rejoice when I saw her retweet of that impactful moment. Harris, the brilliant and inspiring Ahsoka actress, beamed at 45, proudly showcasing her acceptance of Biden’s endorsement. Her determination shone through as she penned down those iconic words, “Nevertheless, she persisted…”

Actor Wendell Pierce, 60 years old and known for his role in The Wire, posted a picture of himself next to Harris with the caption: “Tonight, I stand with millions of Americans, following President Biden’s example, to wholeheartedly back Vice President Kamala Harris as our candidate for US President. Let’s unite. We have 100 days left to safeguard our democracy.”

Russell Brand, aged 49, commented, “Joe Biden has announced his support for Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s nominee following his decision to withdraw from the race. What a rollercoaster existence we inhabit!”

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, 72, praised Biden while looking ahead to the election.

“Joe Biden’s achievements as a president surpass those of any other leader during our lifetimes. He brought back trust, respectability, and morality to the White House after four tumultuous years filled with deception, lawlessness, scandals, and chaos.”

Hamill went on to say: “Mr. President, I appreciate your dedication. Now, it falls upon us as devoted citizens to support the Democratic candidate who will uphold and build upon your accomplishments.”

John Cusack, 58, gave his thoughts on how Democrats should approach the election.

Based on my personal perspective and observation of political dynamics, I believe that if Biden and Harris focus too heavily on identity politics, they may risk losing support from a significant portion of voters. Drawing from my experience as a long-time observer of American politics, I’ve noticed that while identity politics can be an effective tool for mobilizing certain groups, it can also alienate others who prioritize issues over demographics.

Billy Baldwin, aged 61, analyzed a list of possible vice presidential candidates for Harris and assessed how their selections could influence her prospects of winning. He expressed his belief that “the 2024 Democratic National Convention will be the most significant and thrilling event in a century.”

With President Biden announcing his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, the Democratic Party finds itself in a tight spot, needing to select a new nominee only three months and eight days prior to Election Day.

As an obsessed fan, I can’t contain my excitement about what’s unfolding next! Kamala Harris is definitely making waves and gaining momentum, but let me be clear, she’s not a shoo-in yet to secure her party’s nomination. It’s going to be an unprecedented sequence of events, full of twists and turns. So buckle up, folks, and join me on this thrilling political rollercoaster!

From August 19-22, the Democratic National Convention will take place in Chicago. It was anticipated that Biden would officially claim the nomination during this event after earning a total of 3,896 delegates in the party’s primary elections held earlier this year.

Approximately 4,600 delegates and countless party representatives are traveling to the city soon, as the nominee for our party remains undetermined.
