The highly anticipated Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has reached a key point in its release plan. Sony initially scheduled the film for March 29, 2024 – less than a year after Across the Spider-Verse came out on June 1, 2023. However, as the release date approached, it became clear the film would be delayed. This was due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes and other production challenges. The creators have stated that Spider-Verse 3 will be released only “when it’s ready” to ensure it meets their quality standards.
Today, February 3, 2026, we’re 500 days away from the release of Beyond the Spider-Verse on June 18, 2027. Sony Pictures shared the news and some new images from the highly anticipated film at CinemaCon last year, ending a period of silence about the project.
The upcoming movie, Beyond the Spider-Verse, will feature the return of familiar faces like Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, and Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099. Joining them will be Jason Schwartzman as The Spot, Karan Soni as Spider-Man India, and Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk.
Okay, comic book fans, get ready! 2027 is shaping up to be an absolutely incredible year for superhero movies, and I’m especially thrilled about Beyond the Spider-Verse. It’s landing in a year already packed with huge titles like Avengers: Secret Wars, Man of Tomorrow, and The Batman: Part 2. Seriously, mark your calendars now – it’s going to be a wild ride!
The Latest Updates on Beyond the Spider-Verse (Will It Get Delayed Again?)

Despite ongoing worries about potential delays, current information indicates that Beyond the Spider-Verse is still expected to come out in June 2027, possibly once Sony Pictures releases a trailer.
Hailee Steinfeld told Variety in October that work on Beyond the Spider-Verse is officially underway, and voice recording has started after a long wait.
According to Shameik Moore, recording for Spider-Verse 3 appears to have started around the end of August (DiscussingFilm reports).
Sony Pictures is expected to start heavily promoting Beyond the Spider-Verse in late 2026, following the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31st. However, they might also offer a first look at the film during their presentation at CinemaCon in April 2026, similar to what they did last year.
The third Spider-Verse movie is adding a special feature: it will fully utilize the expanded IMAX screen size. This means audiences will be able to experience the visually stunning animation in the highest possible quality for what is likely the final installment.
