Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing head out on a family stroll with baby Ziggy after opening up on his ‘terrifying’ emergency C-section birth

Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing took their baby son, Ziggy, for a walk on Sunday, following their recent discussion about his difficult birth.

Thirty-one-year-old Sophie appeared radiant while strolling through Notting Hill with her 37-year-old husband and their five-month-old baby.

The Made In Chelsea star dressed casually in denim jeans, a white shirt, and a brown bomber jacket. They finished the look with black ballet flats and a New York Yankees cap.

Jamie, a young business owner, was dressed casually in a white T-shirt, black pants, bright sneakers, and a green hat that said ‘Candy’ as he walked Ziggy’s Silver Cross stroller through the city streets.

The family was having a relaxed weekend, running errands at Daylesford Organic and buying flowers to brighten up their recently renovated house.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always highlighting the importance of family connection, and it’s lovely to see Jamie spending quality time with his loved ones. It seems this outing is especially meaningful, coming after he bravely opened up about how incredibly scared and helpless he felt when Sophie had to have an emergency C-section with their little Ziggy. It’s a reminder that even strong people need support, and that sharing those vulnerable moments can be so healing.

He shared with the Daily Mail that Sophie’s delivery unexpectedly became very difficult, calling it the most frightening experience of his life.

Sophie gave birth at the famous Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital – the same place where Kate Middleton had her babies. While the birth wasn’t what she expected and she was initially very scared, she’s thankful that her son, Ziggy, arrived safely.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Jamie described the experience as the most frightening of his life.

Seeing my wife and our baby go through that was absolutely terrifying. It felt helpless, like I had no control, and it was an experience nothing could have prepared me for.

It was a frightening experience,” Sophie shared. “The birth didn’t go as planned, and it was scary, but every woman’s experience is unique. Ultimately, it was amazing to bring him into the world, and thankfully, he’s healthy. The medical staff were also wonderful.”

Jamie and Sophie, who found love on the reality show Made In Chelsea in 2017, documented the birth of their son, Ziggy, for their new Disney+ series, Raising Chelsea. The show follows them as they experience pregnancy and parenthood for the first time.

Deciding to share the most important moment of their lives on TV wasn’t something they’d planned or found easy.

Sophie initially wanted to keep the situation private, but she decided to share it after seeing the moving video captured by their anesthesiologist.

Sophie explained that she’d told the crew she didn’t want the birth filmed, emphasizing her need for that experience to remain private and personal.

Things didn’t go as planned with the delivery, and I ended up needing an emergency C-section. To our shock, the anesthesiologist secretly took photos and video of the entire procedure. We were completely unaware it was happening.

The day after, I was going through all the birth photos and videos, and I discovered an eleven-minute-long video! As soon as I hit play, I was completely overwhelmed with emotion. It was such a powerful and moving experience, reliving those moments.

Jamie, who is comfortable with being filmed and passionate about telling stories, said he was still surprised by how strong the connection between him and Sophie seemed when he watched the unedited footage.

He described the moment as incredibly romantic and amazing. What made it special was that neither he nor Sophie realized they were being filmed – they thought it was just for themselves. But when he watched it back, he was struck by how much love they clearly shared, seeing their connection as an outside observer.

After giving it some thought, Soph said she believed we should include it, as she thought it would be really impressive.

That was a truly frightening experience. It’s given me a whole new level of respect for mothers – I see them as heroes whenever I’m out and about, especially those with babies. It’s just incredible what they go through.
