The spy thriller The Little Drummer Girl, which originally aired on the BBC in 2018 and stars Florence Pugh, will soon be available on Netflix. You can currently watch it immediately on BBC iPlayer if you have a TV licence, or look for it in the ‘worth the wait’ section on Netflix when it’s added.
The series is adapted from John le Carré’s novel and was directed by Park Chan-wook, known for films like Oldboy, Decision to Leave, and No Other Choice.
The story centers around a young English actress in her twenties who encounters an attractive man during a vacation in Greece.

She quickly learns he’s a spy who wants her to join him, and she finds herself using her acting talents in a risky world of secret missions.
The show isn’t just about Florence Pugh, though! The cast is seriously stacked with amazing actors like Alexander Skarsgård, Michael Shannon, Simona Brown, Charles Dance, Max Irons, and Mark Stanley. And get this – the author, John le Carré, actually made a cameo appearance in one of the episodes! It was a cool little surprise for fans like me.

In a review of the first episode, Digital Spy praised the show’s visuals. We noted that, like the original story, the series is set in 1979, but the director successfully avoided the typical, dull color schemes often associated with that era, instead creating a bright and lively look.
The character Little Drummer Girl confidently travels and performs in a variety of locations, from rundown London theaters and the stark buildings of West Germany to the beautiful landscapes of Greece.

We believed Pugh’s performance would soon make her a highly sought-after actress, and we predicted she’d be a top choice for many roles in the future.
Honestly, watching her perform is always a surprise! She takes risks, and sometimes her choices seem a little strange, even frustrating. But somehow, she always wins you over. By the end, you’re totally rooting for her, even if you didn’t see where she was going with it at first.
The show and Florence Pugh’s acting were widely praised. It currently has a 95% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and IGN described Pugh as “mesmerizing.”
You can now watch The Little Drummer Girl on BBC iPlayer, and it will be coming to Netflix soon.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a beautifully illustrated 100-page tribute to Sir David Attenborough, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online.
