‘Snoopy Unleashed’: First Look Image Revealed for New ‘Peanuts’ Movie

WildBrain Studios is creating a new Peanuts movie, following up on their 2015 film, The Peanuts Movie. Titled Snoopy Unleashed, the story centers around Snoopy, Charlie Brown’s dog, who decides to run away from home. The rest of the Peanuts gang heads to the city after him, and they’ll experience a heartwarming adventure where they learn the importance of accepting each other for who they are.

A new picture shows Snoopy running from the Peanuts gang, with a long string of caution tape behind him. But Snoopy doesn’t seem scared! You can spot familiar faces like Charlie Brown, Schroeder, Lucy, Franklin, Peppermint Patty, Linus, and Marcie in the image. While characters like Pig-Pen, Sally, and Woodstock aren’t visible in this particular picture, they might appear in the final movie.

Charles Schulz, who created the beloved comic strip Peanuts, passed away in 2000. His family has continued his work, and his grandson, Bryan Schulz, along with Cornelius Uliano and Karey Kirkpatrick, wrote Snoopy Unleashed. Bryan Schulz and Uliano previously collaborated with Charles Schulz’s son, Craig, on The Peanuts Movie, and Craig is also helping to produce Snoopy Unleashed. Steve Martino, the director of The Peanuts Movie, is directing this new film as well. When the film was announced in 2023, Craig Schulz said, “Peanuts fans have been asking for another movie for years, and we believe this film will delight our millions of fans worldwide.”

I’m hearing from Deadline that the new Peanuts special, Snoopy Unleashed, is landing on Apple TV+. Apple’s really become the official home for all things Peanuts since 2020, and they’ve got the rights through at least 2030. While I know some fans were hoping to see this one on the big screen – The Peanuts Movie was a solid success, earning $250 million against a $100 million budget – it looks like it’s heading straight to streaming. There’s no firm release date yet, so maybe things could still shift, but for now, it seems like we’ll be watching Snoopy’s latest adventures from our couches.

Since partnering with Peanuts, Apple has created several new shows, including Snoopy in Space, The Snoopy Show, and Camp Snoopy—with Snoopy being the most popular character driving the franchise. Apple also streams many of the classic Peanuts TV specials that have aired since the 1960s, such as A Charlie Brown Christmas and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, as well as some lesser-known titles like It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown and Snoopy’s Getting Married, Charlie Brown.
