Cori Broadus is grieving the loss of her 11-month-old daughter, Codi Dreaux, and has been sharing her sadness on Instagram.
Over the weekend, Broadus shared the heartbreaking news that her daughter had passed away, only 20 days after leaving the hospital’s newborn intensive care unit following a long period of medical care.
Codi arrived three months early in late February 2025, becoming the first child for Cori and her fiancé, photographer Wayne Deuce.
The baby spent most of her early months in the newborn intensive care unit, but was thankfully able to go home at the beginning of the year.
Cori announced her daughter’s return home on January 6th, sharing the happy news with her followers. She expressed gratitude for the prayers people had sent, saying she believed they had been answered.
A few days later, the 26-year-old posted a black-and-white photo on Instagram of herself with her baby. The caption read, ‘Waiting for someone to tell me to wake up and this is just a bad dream,’ expressing her heartbreak.
Broadus later reposted her original announcement about her daughter coming home from the hospital, adding, ‘Twenty days later?! I can’t believe it!’
She shared more photos on her Stories showing close moments with Codi, including a picture of their baby sleeping next to her. One photo had the message, ‘You were supposed to bury me… not me bury you Codi,’ and another said, ‘I want to join you badly.’
Wayne Deuce also paid tribute by sharing a touching photo of him holding his daughter, who was gazing up at him.
He shared a heartfelt message saying he’s been deeply saddened since Codi Dreaux passed away, but finds comfort knowing she’s at peace. He finished with a message of eternal love and the hashtag #LongLiveCodiDreaux.
Cori shared a post from the nurse who cared for her baby while the infant was in the NICU, highlighting the nurse’s reflections on that time.
The nurse wrote that she’d been feeling deeply sad for six days. She explained that while nursing has rewarding moments, this was the most difficult experience of her career. She had given Codi a final bath, unaware it would be her last act of care.
Last year, Broadus shared that her daughter had been born prematurely at 25 weeks, explaining that the early delivery was due to HELLP syndrome, a serious complication of preeclampsia.
Cori has had lupus since she was a child and recently suffered a stroke earlier this year. Because of these health issues, her pregnancy is considered high-risk.
Despite the complications, she often spoke lovingly of her daughter’s strength.
Last September, when Codi was still in the newborn intensive care unit, her father, Broadus, described her as spirited, strong, and full of life. He said doctors often commented on how alert and determined she was.
Cori is Snoop Dogg’s youngest daughter. He and his wife, Shante Broadus, have been married for 28 years and she is their child.
Snoop Dogg recently spoke out about the difficult time by posting a family picture with his daughter Cori and her brothers, Corde and Cordell.
The rapper shared the photo with just a pink heart and praying hands, offering a subtle message of support to the family during this incredibly difficult time.
