Smirking Matt Willis takes swipe at McFly as he claims the noughties band only have hits because Busted's James Bourne wrote them all

As someone who has grown up with these iconic British bands shaping my teenage years, I must say this tour is like a dream come true! I remember blasting McFly and Busted songs in my room, singing along to Everybody Get Ready and Crashed The Wedding, respectively.

Matt Willis jokingly suggested that McFly found success due to the fact that their hits were written by James Bourne, who was also in Busted (his former band).

On Capital Breakfast, the 41-year-old musician teamed up with Harry Judd, aged 38 from McFly, following their announcement earlier this week about reuniting for a collaborative tour, reviving their prime years together.

Even though they are scheduled to perform together next year, they didn’t wait for that occasion to air their feelings. Instead, they hurled sharp criticisms and insults at each other during the show on Thursday.

They went so far as to assert that the tour serves to resolve a 20-year dispute over who is superior. (or)

Harry aggressively approached Matt, admitting that he believes the success of Busted came about primarily because they covered the Jonas Brothers’ song “Year 3000.

Speaking to show hosts Chris Stark and Sian Welby, Matt said: ‘ ‘This is really happening.

It seems that there has been some tension or rivalry between these bands over the last year, or even for two decades, if you will. Essentially, I believe there have been numerous discussions revolving around which band is superior.

To which Sian reminded Matt of some of his previous insults targeted at McFly.

As for your unique perspective, Matt, if you’d prefer me to attribute a quote to you, it’s this: “Indeed, there’s a definite rivalry; who even recalls McFly these days?” I made sure to note that as one of yours.

In your previous interview on Capital Breakfast, you referred to McFly as ‘Tom’s band’ and also mentioned, ‘It seems those boys are getting a bit arrogant, they should recall that they were our opening act.’

Later on, Harry made it clear that the two groups would indeed travel and perform separately. He put it simply, “They do have distinct tour buses and individual dressing rooms.

Noticing the awkwardness among them, Chris expressed his confusion: “What puzzles me is this: I assumed they were announcing a tour and would be playing together again, given that they appear to be on good terms.

It seems to me this morning that perhaps you and the other person are not yet allies, but rather find yourselves in a conflict of sounds or opinions.

Matt continued: ‘Well, it’s a challenge. Right, let’s prove, let’s see what the audience think.’

‘I mean there’s no doubt who is the bigger band.’

Harry joked: “Well, technically speaking, it was supposed to be McFly against Busted. However, their pride wouldn’t allow it, so we ended up with Busted versus McFly instead, all in an effort to make them feel better.

Jordan stated, “I’m perplexed because approximately a decade ago, I came to visit you when McBusted was popular, right?

Harry responded by saying, ‘It was then that we brought Matt and James back into the spotlight after they’d been forgotten for a while. McFly helped us do this and allowed them to become part of our group.’

Surprised by his statement, Matt replied: ‘It seems to me we moved you from small, dismal, and unsanitary theaters in England to large, vibrant arenas instead.’

Harry didn’t treat this lightly and retorted with a question: “Who’s Matt? Who’s James?” Essentially, it’s clear that their success was largely due to the ‘Mc’ in ‘Busted.’

It seems like Charlie had left but now he’s returned because he’s been performing in theaters. I believe they are currently touring with us again, filling up arenas once more.

Speaking of their tour, it dawned on them that they do still have some old ‘beef’ to clear on.

Matt mentioned that you’ll perform your one-hit song along with a few others, after which we’ll give an energetic and powerful performance.

After that, Harry jokingly commented: “They’re successful primarily due to their cover of ‘Year 3000’ by the Jonas Brothers.

However, Matt made it clear that he wasn’t accepting such claims, stating instead, “The sole credit for your success goes to James, who happens to be from my band, since he wrote those hits!

Harry concluded: ‘I’m actually feeling a bit of beef here!’

McFly, a band established in 2003, has achieved an impressive 18 UK Top 10 hits, with seven of these tracks peaking at the top spot on the UK Singles chart.

Among their most popular songs are “Five Colors in Her Hair,” “Obviously,” “All About You,” “I’ll Be Alright,” and “Please, Please.

Compared to other bands, Busted – established in 2000 – boasted eight Top 10 hits, among them were four chart-toppers that peaked at No.1.

Among the standout singles are “You Said No,” “Crashed the Wedding,” “Year 300,” and “Thunderbirds Are Go.

McBusted was a supergroup formed in 2013 by members of McFly and Busted.

As a lifestyle connoisseur looking back, I must share that the vibrant group known as Busted disbanded in the year 2005, following my dear friend and fellow musician, Charlie Simpson’s decision to focus on his other creative endeavor – Fightstar. It was indeed a significant shift in our musical journey.

For quite some time, James Bourne and Matt Willis have been voicing their desire for a Busted comeback, yet it’s only in the more recent past that Charlie has shown signs of joining them again.

Given McFly’s proven track record, they chose to assemble a supergroup, bringing delight to ’00s music enthusiasts everywhere.

The founding members of McFly, which include Harry Judd, Dougie Poynter, Danny Jones, and Tom Fletcher, have consistently stayed together and haven’t split up.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! Back in the day, bands like Busted and McFly ruled our playlists, and now, they’re coming together for a breathtaking head-to-head joint tour in 2025. Get ready to relive the good old days and create new memories!

At McFly’s concert last Wednesday, which was a special event for their 21st anniversary and hosted by TopMob, they invited Busted on stage to announce some thrilling news.

Tonight, here and now, we’re extending an invitation for a fierce showdown, dubbed the ultimate face-off. It’s scheduled for the year 2025: Busted vs McFly, a tour you won’t want to miss! If you’re up for it, consider this challenge as yours.

In a 14-date competition, these two popular bands from the 2000s plan to face off and determine who is superior.

James Bourne, Charlie Simpson, and Matt Willis of Busted announced: “Our upcoming tour is all about determining which band reigns supreme. The audience gets to decide by attending and showing their support for their favorite band. Who knows, they might even change their mind during the competition! It’s a battle royale to the very end.

Matt went on saying, “This tour has been a long-awaited event for fans. It’s what they’ve been wanting. There’s a significant overlap between our fanbases, but I suspect deep down, everyone prefers Busted just a bit more.

Simultaneously, the band known as McFly consists of members Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Harry Judd, and Dougie Poynter. Previously, they united with Matt and James to create McBusted, producing a Top Ten album and embarking on a global tour.

But the super band split when Charlie decided to rejoin Busted, ten years after quitting.

Charlie clarified that McBusted represents something distinct: “We’re treating this as two separate entities.” (This version maintains the essence of the original statement while using simpler and more conversational language.)

Instead of the traditional format, this show has been designed uniquely. Unlike a typical co-headlining tour, it offers unexpected elements that audiences haven’t experienced previously.

The sale of tickets begins this coming Friday, October 18th, for the upcoming 14-city tour. This tour starts in Birmingham next September 16th.

McFly managed an impressive run with 18 UK singles charting within the top 20, and seven of those reached the top spot. Additionally, they were recognized as the Best British Pop Act at the 2005 Brit Awards.

Simultaneously, the band Busted, hailing from Southend-on-Sea, achieved four top UK singles, took home two Brit Awards, and sold more than five million records across the globe.

In the year 2013, these two popular punk-pop groups merged into one, forming a six-member ensemble known as McBusted. However, their lead singer and guitarist, Charlie Simpson, chose to concentrate on his rock group Fightstar and his individual music projects, hence he was not part of McBusted.

At first, the freshly formed group had planned only eleven concerts in April and May of 2014. However, because of overwhelming demand, these performances were expanded to a total of 34 shows. Additionally, they were invited to headline at Hyde Park towards the end of that year.

Back in June 2014, I had the incredible opportunity to embark on my global introduction with the band, as we supported One Direction on their Where We Are Tour in Denmark. What an unforgettable experience it was!

The achievements they had made enabled them to invite One Direction to join them as special performers during the Australian and European stages of their On the Road Again Tour.

McBusted experienced further success when they secured a deal with Island Records in October 2014 and premiered their first single, “Air Guitar.” This track made its way onto the UK Singles Chart, debuting at position twelve.

The self-titled album peaked at number nine on the music charts, and in 2015, the group embarked on their second tour, performing at 21 venues throughout the United Kingdom.

Later in the same year, it became public knowledge that Charlie Simpson was returning to Busted after a decade-long absence. Consequently, the individual members of McBusted decided to part ways.
