Perla Hudson, who was married to Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, is requesting the judge sentencing Jasveen Sangha – known as the ‘Ketamine Queen‘ – to show leniency. Sangha was convicted in connection with the accidental overdose that caused the 2023 death of actor Matthew Perry.
I truly believe Jasveen isn’t a threat to anyone. From what I’ve seen, she’s a genuinely positive force and, if given the opportunity, will continue to inspire and help those around her. That’s what Hudson said in his court statement, and I couldn’t agree more.
Sangha’s legal team has requested a light sentence, emphasizing her clean record before the incident and presenting letters of support from people who know her, highlighting her good character.
Kate Hudson, who was married to musician Chris Robinson from 2001 to 2015, wrote a letter to a Los Angeles court explaining that David Sangha is a fundamentally good person who unfortunately found himself in a difficult circumstance.
Hudson asked the judge to give Sangha a sentence shorter than the 15 years recommended by prosecutors, emphasizing Sangha’s compassionate, empathetic, and selfless nature in a letter.
Hudson described Sangha as a close, supportive figure – a little sister to her and a motherly presence to her sons.
Hudson described Sangha as a deeply religious Sikh woman who prays daily. He noted that her faith fosters humility and compassion, qualities she brings to all her relationships.
Hudson described Sangha as a consistently supportive presence, always offering help during difficult periods in her life, like when she went through her divorce from Slash.
According to legal documents, Sangha claims she’s made major positive changes in her life since being arrested in 2024. She states she previously battled substance abuse but has been sober for two years as of March 19, 2026.
According to a sentencing memo reviewed by ABC News, prosecutors disagreed on the appropriate punishment for Sangha, who admitted to distributing ketamine, causing serious harm or death, and running a location used for drug activity.
Prosecutors argued that Sangha showed a cruel indifference to human life while selling dangerous drugs.
Investigators revealed that Sangha also confessed to selling ketamine to Cody McLaury, who died of an overdose in August 2019 – roughly four years before Perry’s death.
According to prosecutors, the defendant continued selling despite not caring about the consequences. They described her behavior as showing a cruel indifference to human life.
According to prosecutors, Sangha prioritized profits over the well-being of others, causing significant suffering to the families and loved ones of those affected. They stated she could have stopped her actions once she understood the harm they were causing, but she deliberately chose not to.
Matthew Perry was found dead in his jacuzzi on October 29, 2023, deeply impacting Hollywood. He had courageously spoken about his own battles with addiction, hoping to help others avoid similar struggles.
After several months, the medical examiner concluded that the actor, who had a long history of struggling with substance abuse, died from the immediate effects of ketamine.
According to a statement from U.S. Attorney Bilal A. Essayli last fall, Sangha’s sentencing was anticipated to happen in the following months, as reported by Daily Mail.
According to Essayli, Sangha could receive up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty, with the sentencing focused on the charges related to drug activity.
The prosecutor stated that Sangha could face between 10 and 15 years in federal prison for each charge related to distributing ketamine. The potential sentence increases to a maximum of 15 years if the distribution resulted in someone’s death or serious injury.
Last year, prosecutors stated that Sangha confessed, as part of her plea agreement, to having drugs at her North Hollywood home with the intention of selling them.
According to Essayli, a search of the home in March 2023 revealed 1.7 kilograms of methamphetamine in pill form, along with 79 vials of liquid ketamine, Ecstasy tablets, and fake Xanax pills.
Authorities also found bags of ketamine and cocaine, along with tools used for drug dealing. These included a machine for counting money, a scale, a device to detect hidden cameras and signals, packaging supplies, and $5,723 in cash, according to the prosecutor.
In June 2025, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, another doctor involved in the case, agreed to admit guilt on four charges related to distributing ketamine.
Prosecutors also accused Plasencia of changing and faking documents related to the federal investigation.
Three people have admitted guilt related to the death of the television actor. These individuals are Dr. Mark Chavez, Perry’s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, and Erik Fleming, a friend of the actor.
