Skyrim Dev Revealed the Exact Time Todd Howard Will Disclose Elder Scrolls 6 Release Date: “The best time to start talking about it is…”
Did you know that “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” celebrates its 14th anniversary this year? Interestingly, there’s still no sign of its successor. It has been over seven years since Bethesda first hinted at “The Elder Scrolls 6,” revealing a brief 36-second trailer to us.
Since Todd Howard and his team haven’t given many details about the project since it was first announced, gamers have been curious to know when they can expect the game to be released. Now, a former Bethesda leader has provided some insight into this matter.
Skyrim developer reveals potential Elder Scrolls 6 release date
Every Bethesda enthusiast is familiar with the name, Bruce Nesmith. For over two decades, he’s been an integral part of their team as a game designer.
He’s been in charge of all “Elder Scrolls” games since “Daggerfall,” as well as the “Fallout” series and numerous other projects. Although he no longer works at the studio, he is well-versed in the objectives of game development under Howard’s leadership.
In conversation with MinnMax’s Ben Hanson, Nesmith shared insights regarding “The Elder Scrolls 6.” He mentioned that Bethesda had faced years of criticism due to their silence on the project. It appears that unveiling the game prematurely didn’t pan out as planned, but Nesmith speculates that we might be looking at a release date approximately half a year before the official launch.
The best time to start talking about it is six months before release.
To predict when The Elder Scrolls 6 might be released, examining Bethesda’s previous release patterns is key. For instance, they unveiled Fallout 4 on June 6th and followed up with a November launch that same year. Similarly, Skyrim was announced in December 2010 and made available within just under a year.
It’s important to note that just because Bethesda hasn’t been consistent with their release dates in the past, it doesn’t necessarily mean that will be the case moving forward. For instance, the highly anticipated game Starfield, initially announced in 2018, took a full five years before its release. At this point, we’re unsure about where exactly the next Elder Scrolls installment stands in terms of development progress.
New Elder Scrolls 6 reveal might be around the corner
One reason you haven’t heard much about Elder Scrolls 6 in recent years is that Bethesda has been busy working on Starfield. But now that they’ve completed all tasks related to the space-action RPG, it’s possible we might see some news about Elder Scrolls 6 soon.
Based on what YouTuber Extas1s has shared, there’s a strong possibility that fans could catch a glimpse of “The Elder Scrolls 6” as soon as this coming summer. A first peek into the future of the series may be unveiled in July 2025.
It’s important to note that while these rumors might appear far-fetched, they do have some foundation. You may recall that “The Elder Scrolls 6” officially began active development in October 2023, immediately following the release of “Starfield”.
Over the course of more than eight years, the creation of Starfield required Howard and his crew to devote considerable effort to enhancing the Creation Engine. This is a task that Bethesda typically avoids for most of their games.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but speculate that we might just catch a glimpse of Elder Scrolls 6 as early as Summer 2025. Despite initial assumptions, this timeline is plausible given the accelerated pace at which they’re working on Elder Scrolls 6 compared to Starfield.
