Sister Wives star Kody Brown says he wants to be ‘friends’ with ex-wife Meri to avoid ‘one more enemy’
As a lifestyle expert who has witnessed countless relationships unfold on television, I must say that Kody Brown’s current situation is quite relatable to many people who have experienced the complexities of family dynamics. It’s heartbreaking to see him struggle with mending relationships with his ex-wives, especially after losing his son Garrison earlier this year.
Kody Brown openly stated that he prefers maintaining a friendly relationship with his ex-wife, Meri, as he doesn’t desire any more adversaries.
On the latest episode of the popular TLC show, the actress who plays Sister Wives, now 55 years old, discussed the present status of her relationship with her former spouse. This conversation took place following a sad event earlier this year when their son, Garrison, took his own life.
Reflecting on their relationship, he admitted during a personal reflection that they had formally separated, even though they announced their breakup jointly in a post back in January 2023.
Following the breakdown of his three previous marriages, which were with women named Janelle, Christine, and Meri, he is now married to Robyn Brown.
He expressed: ‘If I were single and Meri was single too, would I consider dating her? No, I wouldn’t. She’s hurt because I’ve prolonged this situation. I understand why she feels that way. I don’t want Meri to find herself in the position where she’s going through what both Christine and Janelle have experienced. And honestly, “I don’t need another source of conflict right now.”‘
He then explained that he wants to remain on good terms with Meri a decade after their 2014 split.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I find myself expressing to Meri, “Let’s aim for a fresh start as friends, shall we? Let’s leave the past behind and focus on moving forward together.
In a private conversation, he admitted that an encounter with his three former wives at a wedding was both awkward and strange for him and his current spouse, Robyn.
And he said that he now feels an undesired tension with his exes when they cross paths.
He expressed his feelings about his loved one’s special day in these words: ‘In general, the whole wedding left me feeling sad. Previously, we would go on family outings together, but it seems as though those who were once my companions are now more like adversaries. It’s an uncomfortable situation. I’m at a loss as to how to resolve this.’
The elder man likewise looked back on his past with ex-partner Christine, aged 52, expressing that he hadn’t believed she was genuinely planning to leave him before their separation in 2021.
He now realizes how foolish it was of him, but the regret hits especially hard on days when she’s not around, having left their shared home.
Kody expressed to the producers that, in his opinion, it would have been more beneficial for the entire family if him and Christine had ended their relationship as friends. He suggested that this way, they could potentially reconcile at a later time without causing so much division among everyone.
He also admitted that he no longer speaks to ex Janelle, 55, hinting at bad blood between them.
‘I don’t get why we can’t find common ground. When I discussed our relationship with Janelle, she told me she was simply savoring her time apart from me.’
45-year-old Robyn, Kody’s wife, confessed in a personal reflection that it was painful for her to acknowledge the reality of being separated from her family, as they had once been united.
She expressed that she is deeply mourning and grieving the loss of her relationships, dealing with her own situational depression from it all. It’s incredibly sad for her, and she misses her family members dearly.
She mentioned that lately, it’s not usual for Kody to be seen smiling due to all the family issues and other related matters.
