I’ve seen plenty of Dinner Party blow-ups during my years reporting on MAFS.
I’ve come to understand there’s a big difference between reacting angrily in a situation and deliberately trying to ruin someone’s reputation before anything has even happened.
Viewers have been intensely discussing a particularly harsh scene from a recent dinner party. Some believe the unpleasant behavior directed at Alissa Fay – which many are calling the worst in the show’s history – was caused by the effects of alcohol, while others think it was manipulated by the show’s editors.
Recently revealed messages from a group chat – messages that Channel Nine and EndemolShine tried to keep private – indicate a much more deliberate plan was in place.
Private WhatsApp screenshots reveal a conversation between brides – including Bec Zacharia, Gia Fleur, and Brook Crompton – that happened just before the second dinner party was filmed, and it appears to show damaging information.
The exchange all but confirms that the explosive confrontation was planned ahead of time.
In a message, Bec stated she intends to strongly confront Alissa, believing her relationship is not genuine. Another person replied with support, saying, “Yes, we’re with you.”
Bec called Alissa a ‘rat’ for telling the Married At First Sight producers that a reporter had reached out to her, and then made very hurtful comments about Alissa’s personality.
The conversation also included harsh criticism of Alissa, with people accusing her of being insincere, distant, and only interested in personal gain.
One member of the group later made a snide remark, calling a couple from Married at First Sight ‘Christian influencer wannabes.’ Another agreed, stating it was clear they were desperate for fame – a comment widely understood to be about Alissa and her husband, David Momoh.
The timing of these messages is important.
These messages were sent before the second dinner party and hint at a plan against Alissa, but she won’t find out about them for several weeks. This reveal will be shown on the program.
The revelation causes Alissa to reflect on the harsh insults and claims that she was faking her relationship, which she had been dealing with at recent dinner parties.
This also makes you wonder: was the argument at the second dinner party a sudden, unplanned outburst, or was it the beginning of a deliberate scheme?
Alissa believes it was the latter.
Alissa explained that there was a significant amount of bullying and unkind behavior. She also said some of the footage was too harsh and cruel to be shown on television.
As a lifestyle expert, I often hear about family dynamics, and this situation really struck a chord. It wasn’t just the difficult dinner conversation where I felt like everyone was against me, honestly it was incredibly upsetting. But discovering the messages they all shared afterward? That was the real blow. It felt like a complete betrayal and honestly, much more hurtful than the argument itself.
‘To find out that it was premeditated as well, it’s pretty disgusting.’
As far as she knows, there wasn’t any real reason for the other brides to be so hostile towards her. She thinks their jealousy was the true cause of their harsh behavior.
Alissa is now understood to have engaged lawyers and is considering her options.
Stella Mickunaite and I are self-assured, independent women. We’re comfortable being ourselves, and I believe that our strong relationships – both past and present – were seen as a challenge by others.
In particular, Alissa says, she was blindsided by Gia’s aggression.
She surprisingly announced at the dinner party, “I really dislike Alissa.” But I couldn’t understand it – I hadn’t even met her, so there was no reason for her to feel that way, she explained.
‘We never really built a relationship up to that point. It was malicious.’
Alissa insists she never said anything unkind to the other brides, explaining that she was focused on her husband and their relationship.
She also shared that Bec, who she once considered a friend during the show, has since apologized to her.
Bec, for her part, has not denied her behaviour.
In fact, she has done something rare in the MAFS ecosystem: she has refused to blame the edit.
‘This is not an edit,’ she told me.
I own up to my mistakes. I lost my temper with Alissa, and I should have defended Stella when Brook was being unkind. I’m taking responsibility for my actions.
She described watching the footage from Dinner Party #2 as ‘confronting’.
‘I’m disappointed in myself. The way I acted – it was not okay,’ she said.
I realize now I should have spoken up and told them their behavior was unacceptable. Because I didn’t, I feel just as responsible as they are.
Even though Bec said she was sorry and regretted how she acted towards Alissa, the group chat messages show a clear, pre-planned effort to target her – and it doesn’t seem Alissa had done anything to deserve it.
Alissa says the divide at the dinner table was obvious.
She described a difficult situation, saying, ‘It felt like facing a group of five intimidating girls – like a five-headed dragon – while Stella, Filip, David, and I were on the other side.’
You should be focusing on building a real connection, not acting immaturely. Eventually, people’s true selves will become clear, and their real character will show.
The recently revealed group chat offers a completely new perspective on what is remembered as the most disastrous dinner party in Married at First Sight history.
Okay, look, drama is always happening on this show, I get it. But this? This is different. Seeing them deliberately try to get this bride drunk just because they’re calling her names? It’s not just fighting, it’s… calculated and awful. Seriously, targeting someone like that is a new low, even for this show, and I’m honestly disgusted. I can’t believe they’d actually plan to get her messed up because she upset them. It’s just… ugh!
The truth, as Alissa says, always comes out.
