Shia LaBeouf is required to attend drug and alcohol treatment after a disorderly incident during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans earlier this month.
A judge in New Orleans has ordered the former Disney Channel star, 39, to get help for substance abuse and be tested for drugs weekly. This follows his arrest for allegedly attacking two people in the city’s French Quarter. He faces two charges of simple battery, according to the Associated Press.
Shia LaBeouf, known for his roles in films like “Transformers” and “Honey Boy,” has agreed to new conditions for his release, which included posting a $100,000 bond and taking a drug test in court on Thursday. His lawyer reported that the drug test came back negative.
During Mardi Gras, actor Shia LaBeouf faced criticism from Orleans Parish Criminal Court Judge Simone Levine for his actions. He reportedly hit two men at a bar and used offensive, anti-gay language. Judge Levine voiced worries about public safety and stated that LaBeouf doesn’t seem committed to addressing his problems with alcohol.

Following Shia LaBeouf’s arrest for a fight during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, news spread that he and his wife, Mia Goth, had split up the previous year.
An attorney for LaBeouf didn’t respond right away to requests for comment, but stated in court that public intoxication during Mardi Gras celebrations isn’t illegal.
The actor has yet to enter a formal plea to the charges.
New Orleans police responded to a call about an assault on Royal Street. According to police, the former child actor from “Even Stevens” was causing a problem at a business and staff asked him to leave. They say he then punched one of the people involved multiple times.
According to officials, LaBeouf initially left the location but came back, becoming increasingly agitated. The incident report states that several people attempted to calm him down and eventually let him go, hoping he would leave for good. However, police say LaBeouf then attacked the same man again, punching him repeatedly in the upper body. He’s also accused of punching another man in the nose.
Bystanders restrained LaBeouf until authorities could get there. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, and after being discharged, he was arrested and formally charged with a crime.

Actor Crispin Glover is responding to a lawsuit claiming he assaulted and falsely reported a model – known in court papers as Jane Doe – to the police.
A new police report names a local performer as another person claiming to be a victim of Shia LaBeouf. The actor, who has been arrested before for violent behavior, is accused of threatening the man’s life and using hateful, anti-gay language.
The judge instructed Shia LaBeouf to stay away from the people he fought with and the bar where the incident happened. She also wouldn’t allow him to travel.
Shortly after news of the fight and his arrest became public, LaBeouf released a short statement on social media.
He posted to X: “Free me.”
