Pop superstar Shakira suffered a nasty fall when performing live on stage this weekend.
While singing her popular song “Si Te Vas” from the album Dónde Están los Ladrones?, the 49-year-old singer fell on stage.
In the video, Shakira greeted her fans with a bow, then dashed across the stage and unexpectedly fell to the floor.
She then immediately got to her feet like a true pro as she told the crowd: ‘Ouch, what a fall!’
The accident happened at the Jorge El Mágico González National Stadium in San Salvador, El Salvador, on Saturday night.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that Shakira just launched the newest phase of her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ World Tour! She started things off with five incredible shows in a Central American country, and the energy must have been amazing. It’s fantastic to see her bringing her music to fans across the globe.
She opened the show on Saturday and performed at the same stadium the following night.
She will return for shows on 12, 14 and 15 February before travelling to Mexico.
Viewers applauded her dedication to performing despite what seemed like a bad fall.
As a huge Shakira fan, I heard one local say it best: she’s faced tougher challenges and always bounces back – like a phoenix rising from the ashes! It was a bit scary to see, of course, but honestly, these things happen, and we’re all behind her. Go, Shakira!
Another added: ‘Super agile in getting up quickly and continuing the show.’
This wasn’t Shakira’s only accident during her current World Tour.
On 20 May last year, she fell over while performing Whenever, Wherever in Montreal, Canada.
Afterwards, she wrote on social media: ‘No one is immune to falls.’
This follows Shakira’s emotional performance last December in Argentina, where she was joined on stage by her sons, Milan and Sasha.
The singer performed her 2023 song, “Acróstico,” which includes vocals by her sons.
Twelve-year-old Milan and his ten-year-old brother, Sasha, both wore matching light blue suits as they walked onto the stage, where they were met with enthusiastic applause.
Shakira looked stunning in a light blue dress featuring a metallic, corset-like bodice and delicate pleats.
Milan gave his mother a kiss on the cheek and Sasha waved the crowd after they finished the song.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always been fascinated by heartfelt gestures, and Shakira’s song ‘Acróstico’ is a beautiful example. It’s essentially a love letter to her children, and what makes it so unique is the clever way it’s written. If you read the first letter of each line, in order, they actually spell out words – it’s a really touching and creative way to express her love!
The singer co-parents her sons with her ex, Gerard Piqué, a 38-year-old former soccer player, after their separation in June 2022.
The show was a stop on the artist’s incredibly successful Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour. This tour broke records as the highest-earning Latin tour by a female artist, and earned her the Billboard Global Touring Icon Award last November.
The tour began in April 2024, coinciding with the release of her album – which topped both the Billboard Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts. It will include a total of 82 performances.
Gerard divides his time between Barcelona and Miami where his children live.
After eleven years together and two children, Shakira and Gerard Piqué announced their separation in June 2022, following reports of infidelity.
The Colombian music star has since gone on to brand him ‘Voldemort’ among other digs in her music.
Gerard explained to CNN that he has no control over how events are ultimately reported or understood, stating, ‘The truth, or what actually happened, isn’t being told as it was.’
Ultimately, what matters most is being with the people who love and truly know me – my family and friends.
‘They know what you are like and what you do, and that gives me a lot of peace of mind.
I feel incredibly lucky and grateful for the life I’ve been given. It’s been a privilege to play for my favorite club for over twenty years, and I’m blessed with wonderful children, an amazing family, and friends – some of whom I’ve known since school – who have been with me throughout it all.
He went on to date Clara Chia but it was reported in April last year that they had split.
