Secrets to Untraceable Kills in Oblivion Remastered: Poisoned Apples Explained
In the game Oblivion Remastered, there’s a high degree of interconnectedness between Non-Player Character (NPC) actions and their environment. For instance, if an NPC has access to food and a table, they might sit down and start eating. Players can capitalize on this by employing a strategy such as using Poisoned Apples to eliminate NPCs without any direct involvement, thus escaping all suspicion and Bounty.
In the game ‘Oblivion Remastered’, locating Poisoned Apples can be challenging, and using them effectively involves a somewhat complex process. This guide will clarify what Poisoned Apples do, demonstrate how to use them to eliminate Non-Player Characters (NPCs), and provide insights on where to find these elusive Poisoned Apples in ‘Oblivion Remastered’.
Poisoned Apple Effects
In the game ‘Oblivion Remastered’, consuming a poisoned apple or causing an NPC to do so will instigate the Deadly Poison effect. This harmful status causes roughly 10 health points to be lost every second and ignores all forms of poison resistance, including the Redguard racial bonus for poison resistance.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that the impact of a Poison Apple sets it apart from other poisonous elements in the game. Unlike regular poisons, consuming a Poison Apple doesn’t just temporarily harm me; instead, it inflicts a persistent 10-point Health drain effect on me. What makes this even more challenging is that there are no potions or spells I can use to remove this debuff. Once I eat a Poisoned Apple, it seems like my fate is sealed.
It’s interesting to note that a Non-Player Character (NPC) dying from eating a poisoned apple won’t raise any suspicion, not even if it happens right in front of a Guard. This can be beneficial for specific Dark Brotherhood missions, like the well-known “Whodunit?” murder mystery quest, as you won’t be suspected of wrongdoing.
How To Use Poisoned Apple
In the game Oblivion Remastered, you can employ a Poisoned Apple in two methods:
1. By tricking an unaware NPC with reverse pickpocketing, placing the apple in their inventory without them knowing.
2. By setting it on a table and waiting for an NPC to sit down and accidentally consume it as a snack.
Regardless of the method you choose, always make sure that there are no other Food items in the NPC’s inventory or within close proximity to prevent them from eating something else instead.
- To reverse pickpocket a Poisoned Apple into an NPC’s inventory, you must Sneak up behind them, open up the Search menu in the character’s menu, then scroll through your own inventory until you find the Poisoned Apple.
- Click this to place it in the NPC’s pockets. The next time they go to eat something, they will pull out the Poisoned Apple.
- Be sure to take any other Food items in their inventory so that the Poisoned Apple is their only option.
- To use a Poisoned Apple without pickpocketing, drop the Poisoned Apple from your inventory, then hold down the Interact input to pick it up and drag it onto a table where you know an NPC will sit.
- Pay attention to NPC pathing and schedules to figure out where your target likes to sit down.
- Remove every other Food item from the nearby area, and your target will have no choice but to pick it up and snack on it.
Where To Find Poisoned Apples
In the game Oblivion Remastered, players can discover Poisoned Apple locations in two distinct spots: one is a secure barrel within Lucien Lachance’s hideout, located inside Fort Farragut; the other is within the inventory of M’raaj Dar at the Cheydinhal Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary.
Or more casually: In Oblivion Remastered, you can find Poisoned Apples in two places – either locked up in a barrel inside Fort Farragut’s Lucien Lachance hideout, or available from M’raaj Dar at the Cheydinhal Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary.
- Fort Farragut is found just northeast of Cheydinhal. Follow the Dark Brotherhood questline until you are instructed to find Lucien Lachance here, which will let you access his lair within.
- On the right side of the room as you enter, look for a barrel that is locked with a Very Hard difficulty lock.
- Open this barrel to find 10x Poisoned Apples, which respawn every three days.
- Talk to M’raaj Dar, the Khajiit trader in the Cheydinhal Sanctuary, to find that he sells 5x Poisoned Apples amongst his various wares.
- These cost a lot of Gold, but will restock like any other trader inventory.
- You can improve your Disposition with M’raaj Dar by completing Dark Brotherhood quests to get better prices.
In addition to finding a solitary poisoned apple within the Bravil Wizard’s Grotto, Lachance offers one when you take up “The Purification” quest. However, since each of these sources only contains a single poisoned apple and do not reappear, it is more dependable to utilize the crate in Lachance’s lair or buy poisoned apples from M’raaj Dar instead.
