Production on the show ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives‘ has been temporarily stopped. This comes as one of the show’s main cast members and her former partner are being investigated for domestic violence.
Filming for season five has been temporarily paused because of a personal issue involving cast member Taylor Frankie Paul, according to People magazine.
According to a source who spoke with People magazine, production has been paused. Taylor Frankie Paul is dealing with some personal issues related to her past, and filming won’t resume until those are resolved.
Police in Draper City have confirmed they are actively investigating an alleged domestic assault involving Paul and her former boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen.
Both sides have made claims, according to a department spokesperson. They stated that officials reached out to those involved on February 24th and 25th.
Daily Mail reached out to Paul, Mortensen, Hulu, ABC, and the Draper City Police Department for a response, but they haven’t heard back yet.
Variety reports that the break in filming is only temporary, and production should resume shortly.
The hiatus will likely not have a major impact on the season five release date.
The alleged incident also did not happen on camera.
Paul is a father to four children: Ever, his son with Dakota, and Indy and Ocean, his children with ex-husband Tate.
The incident is not Paul’s first brush with the law.
In 2023, she was arrested on domestic violence charges after reportedly throwing chairs at Mortensen, and one of them unintentionally struck her five-year-old daughter, Indy, in the head.
Paul admitted guilt to a serious assault charge, which is a felony. In exchange, prosecutors dropped the other four charges against him, meaning they can’t be filed again.
As part of her requirements, she needed to attend counseling, be assessed for substance abuse and domestic violence, and avoid any future legal issues.
In a subsequent TikTok, Paul reflected on everything that had happened but remained defiant.
She stated she only needed to explain herself to those directly affected. With the legal proceedings finished for now – not resuming until next year – she added that there would be follow-up checks to ensure her continued progress and well-being.
She admitted that while she wished things had gone differently that night, hitting a low point ultimately pushed her to get the help she needed.
Bodycam footage obtained by The Daily Mail shows Paul reportedly became extremely angry when Mortensen wouldn’t drive her to a concert due to her intoxication.
According to video footage, when police responded to a call in a Salt Lake City suburb, the social media personality claimed she was frightened and had accidentally wet herself.
Paul was arrested at her home in Herriman, Utah, on misdemeanor charges.
After Mr. Mortensen showed police a video of the chair striking the victim, the charges were increased to include aggravated assault, endangering a child, and domestic violence committed in front of a child.
Two weeks after the incident, the Salt Lake County District Attorney filed charges against Paul. These included two felony counts of domestic violence committed in front of a child, resulting in injury, as well as misdemeanor charges of child abuse causing injury and criminal mischief.
If found guilty on all counts, she could have received up to five years in prison for each of the three felony charges.
Paul and several other couples in Utah participated in ‘soft swinging,’ which involves exchanging partners for intimate activities but without complete sexual intercourse.
She shocked people by revealing she’d committed a major mistake, which led to her divorce from Tate and the loss of most of her friendships.
It’s currently unknown whether the recent investigation will affect the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, featuring Paul. However, Variety says the show’s planned release date and promotional events will proceed as scheduled.
