Sebastian Stan Finally Addresses His New Supervillain Role in The Batman: Part 2

Okay, so I was thrilled to hear Sebastian Stan is officially taking on the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face in Matt Reeves’ Batman sequel! He finally talked about joining the project, and honestly, it’s getting me even more excited for the follow-up to ‘The Batman’ – that first film was incredible, and I can’t wait to see where Reeves takes the story next. It sounds like Stan is really embracing the duality of the character, and I’m already anticipating a fantastic performance.

Stan recently shared in an interview that he’s starting work on The Batman Part II soon, with filming beginning in London this June. He’s excited to be part of the DC sequel, and will be joined by Scarlett Johansson and Charles Dance. Johansson will play his character’s wife, Gilda, and Dance will portray his father, Charles Dent.

The Batman Part II Will Blow People Away, Claims Stan

Look, making a sequel is always tough, but this one feels especially ambitious, which is exciting! I’m really thrilled Matt Reeves is directing – I’ve been a huge fan of his work for ages. Honestly, if we pull it off, I think it’s going to completely blow people away. I have a feeling it’ll really surprise audiences, too, in the best way possible.

After being initially planned for 2025, the sequel to The Batman is now scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. That means fans will have to wait almost six years after the first film to see the continuation of the story.

With the delay of The Batman Part II, it’s now been longer than ever since fans last saw a sequel to a Batman movie. Previously, fans had to wait four years between The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012) – that was the longest wait on record.

Two-Face Won’t Be the Only Villain in The Batman Part II

The sequel to The Batman will feature more than just the Dent family as antagonists. Colin Farrell will return as the Penguin, and Barry Keoghan is coming back as the Joker. Farrell’s Penguin has become a major character in Matt Reeves’ planned Batman universe, especially after the success of the HBO series The Penguin, which won nine Emmy Awards.

Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne, remaining the central figure of the series. Jeffrey Wright will return as Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, for the upcoming second film. Matt Reeves is back to direct, having co-written the script with Mattson Tomlin.

Beyond knowing that the Dent family will be back, details about the story of the next Batman movie are still secret. Director Matt Reeves recently shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the film will be set in winter. This is only the third time a live-action Batman movie has used a winter setting – Tim Burton did it in Batman Returns (1992), and Christopher Nolan included winter scenes in the final film of his trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises.

The Batman Part II is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 1, 2027.
