Alfie Allen, known for his roles in SAS Rogue Heroes and Game of Thrones, is joining the second season of the thriller series The Institute. The show, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, also stars Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bone) and Fionn Laird (Under the Banner of Heaven).
Tim Allen will portray Nolan Reeves, a quirky and wealthy European tech investor with a hidden motive at the Institute. Reeves is a major financial backer, but he’s secretly pursuing his own goals.
Okay, so the story continues right after the crazy ending of the first season. I’m playing as Luke Ellis, and teaming up with Tim Jamieson again, we’re trying to reveal everything the Institute has been up to. But it’s not easy – we’re constantly being hunted by a ton of seriously dangerous enemies while we try to get the word out.

Mary-Louise Parker plays Ms. Sigsby, a cold and strategic character who is secretly planning to regain control while learning the Institute’s hidden secrets.

Rounding out the cast are Lost‘s Jeff Fahey, Simone Miller, Robert Joy, Arlen So, and Hannah Galway.
Allen shared his excitement about being cast in the project on Instagram.
He announced his character’s name, Nolan Reeves, in a recent post, adding that he was thrilled to be involved.

This week, Mike Flanagan, the executive producer of The Institute, revealed that filming for the show’s second season has started.
The author shared a photo on Twitter/X of the first script for the new season. It was written by the show’s creator, Benjamin Cavell, and directed by Jack Bender.
The series launched in July of last year and has received a 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 25 critic reviews. Reviewers have called it “twisty, thrilling, and full of interesting references to [King]’s work” (according to Mac the Movie Guy) and “a truly unique watch” (via Cultured Vultures).
Honestly, I was a little disappointed by the series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They pointed out it didn’t really add anything new to Stephen King’s world, and instead felt like a collection of familiar ideas and characters we’ve seen before. It was okay, sometimes even engaging, but it didn’t feel like a fresh take on his stories – more like a sampler of everything he’s already done.
Season 2 of The Institute hasn’t been given a release date yet. You can currently watch Season 1 on Prime Video and MGM+.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-color magazine celebrating Taylor Swift, is now available! You can find it in newsagents or order it online for only £8.99. This special edition is 100 pages long.
