Sarah Lancashire is known for powerful, dramatic roles in shows like Happy Valley and Black Doves. Now, you can see her in something a little different – one of her films is now available to stream in the UK, perfect for a Friday night movie.
The 2019 romantic comedy Yesterday, directed by Danny Boyle, features Himesh Patel (known from EastEnders) as Jack Malik. After a strange global blackout and a bus accident, Jack wakes up to discover that nobody remembers The Beatles!
Jack faces a tough decision: he’s gained popularity playing Beatles songs, but presenting them as his own feels wrong. However, when he meets Liz and Leo, they surprisingly aren’t angry. Instead, they express their gratitude, explaining that Jack’s performances have reintroduced them to the music they love.
You can now watch Yesterday on Prime Video if you have a subscription. If you’re not already a member, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime to get access to Prime Video and other benefits.

In addition to Patel, Lancashire, and Edwards, the film Yesterday features Lily James and Joel Fry, and includes brief appearances by James Corden and Ed Sheeran.
What to Read Next
I just read a review of Yesterday on Digital Spy, and it sounds amazing! They gave it four stars and called it a really crowd-pleasing, heartwarming movie. The reviewer said you’ll walk out feeling good, maybe a little teary-eyed, and definitely with The Beatles stuck in your head – which sounds perfect, honestly!
The movie has been well-received by audiences, with viewers describing it as both “delightful” and “refreshingly original and entertaining.”

Danny Boyle has shared that Ed Sheeran wasn’t his initial pick for the film; he had first hoped to have Chris Martin from Coldplay in the role.
I remembered telling Ed he was perfect for the job and our top pick, saying we couldn’t imagine anyone else doing it. He then reminded us that we’d already asked Chris Martin to do it.
He has a great sense of humor and doesn’t get offended by jokes, and the movie definitely pokes fun at him. He’s used to it, actually – he constantly teased us about not getting Chris Martin for the job.
Yesterday is now available to watch on Prime Video.
