She’s been modelling since she was 13 years old.
Samantha Harris admits she still enjoys her work, but the job, which many people see as glamorous and desirable, isn’t always easy.
The 35-year-old told Stellar magazine that the job involves waking up very early and doing a lot of traveling.
She explained that swimsuit photoshoots often happen in winter to get them ready for the next season, and winter clothing shoots can happen in summer, which can be really uncomfortable because of the heat.
Samantha, who had a baby with her husband Luke Hunt last year, says she loves being a model, but there’s more to the job than meets the eye.
Samantha mentioned she once met Australian supermodel Megan Gale, and was so starstruck she couldn’t speak.
She remembers meeting Megan Gale when she was a young David Jones youth ambassador.
I was struck by how beautiful she was, with her dark hair and features. I just remember being amazed when I first saw her.
‘And she’s such a beautiful person inside as well, which makes her even more special.’
For a recent photoshoot, the experienced model wore a loose-fitting, long white shirt with grey pants and bright green shoes.
The famous model finished her look by letting her long, dark hair flow over her shoulders and adding gold earrings.
This announcement follows Samantha’s November social media post sharing the birth of her daughter, Bella Angélique Hunt.
Sam announced in May that she and husband Luke were expecting, sharing a picture of her ultrasound.
‘Life Lately,’ she captioned the post, while tagging her husband of twelve years.
By the age of 18, Samantha became the second Indigenous model to ever appear on the cover of Vogue.
Samantha has spoken openly about the fact that growing up, she didn’t have anyone to guide her or many chances to get ahead, even though she’s now very successful.
Samantha, originally from Tweed Heads, shared with The Daily Telegraph that growing up, there wasn’t much support or educational opportunity for Aboriginal children. Her mother faced even fewer resources when she was young.
That’s why I’m determined to fix this for the sake of future generations, she explained.
Samantha has worked as a model for over ten years, and because of her experience, she’s frequently asked to mentor young Aboriginal children who are starting out in the industry.
