As an ardent fan of Samantha Armytage, I must say her journey from Seven to Nine is nothing short of inspiring. Her 21-year tenure at Seven was a testament to her resilience and dedication, but it seems she was yearning for a change, a fresh start, much like how a horse needs a change of scenery after reaching the top of a steep hill.

Samantha Armytage shares her experience of leaving her long-time employer, Seven, for a new opportunity with competitor network, Nine.

Originally known as the host of Farmer Wants A Wife for 21 years on Seven, the 48-year-old has decided to leave that network and move to Nine, where she will now be in charge of hosting The Golden Bachelor Australia.

On Monday morning’s Kyle and Jackie O Show, the previous Sunrise star expressed that Network Nine has been “extremely accommodating” in regards to their recent unexpected change.

Shock jock host Kyle Sandilands kicked off the interview with a very direct question: ‘What was that like when you cheated [on Seven]? Was it hard to cheat?’

In response to Sam’s laughter, Kyle, aged 53, quipped, “Was it Channel Nine who treated you to dinners and chauffeured rides in a limo before wooing you?

The TV personality smoothly side-stepped the question and responded: ‘Channel Nine, they have been very welcoming. Very welcoming indeed.

‘It’s been a really nice move for me and a very good fresh start at this age.’

Speaking as a fan who can’t hide their ardor, I find myself saying: With each passing day, I feel the weight of age more keenly. Yet, this sense of growing older only fuels my yearning for something novel. At this stage in my journey, I crave a chance to reboot, to start anew with a fresh perspective.

2GB’s Ben Fordham learned, in a recent conversation with Sam, why she departed from her role as co-anchor on the Sunrise breakfast show in 2021, following eight years there.

She expressed, “I’m exhausted now. I’ve been at it for far too long. Trust me, you understand the toll those hours take.

Sam added she ‘used to get a lot of attention’ from Sunrise, which was becoming ‘pretty full on’.

‘I just needed a break,’ she continued.

The moment seemed perfect, and my circumstances had shifted dramatically. I’d recently gotten married, lost my mother, and everything around me felt transformed. It was clear that the time had come for a change.

After reaching my limit, using a familiar equine analogy, I’ve reached the peak of the ride. I’ve given it my best effort and now seems like the perfect moment to dismount.

Following a span of 21 years with Seven, Sam made the switch to Nine, and after many rumors swirled, it was officially announced that he would be the host of the reality dating series titled The Golden Bachelor.

The contestants in The Golden Bachelor are people in their 50s and 60s.

Sam told Ben, 47, they’re looking for an ‘everyday man’ and between 10 and 12 women for the show.
