Sam Frost reveals ‘backyard wedding’ plans as she reflects on heartbreak that left her feeling like she ‘wasn’t even living’

Sam Frost shared personal details about her wedding plans while also opening up about a difficult time in her life that caused her significant emotional pain.

Sophie Monk, 37, first became well-known on The Bachelor Australia and then as the first Bachelorette. Now, she’s enjoying a more relaxed life in Melbourne with her fiancé, Jordie Hansen, and their two young sons.

In a candid interview with Stellar magazine, Sam described a chaotic but joyful home life.

‘I have to hide otherwise one of them will come and try to find me,’ she said.

For Sam, these small, noisy moments now represent everything she once longed for.

‘It’s the small moments of pure joy that remind you… this is what life is about,’ she said.

I was playing with my sons, Ted and Bobby, recently, and it struck me how happy I was. While having goals is good, I’ve realized that after difficult times – like dealing with loss or mental health challenges – it’s the little things that truly bring peace.

Sam, known for her acting including a role on the show Home and Away, now says her most fulfilling job is being a parent.

Being a stay-at-home mum is everything to me. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to spend my days with my boys and just be with them – it’s a real privilege. I do a little here and there, but honestly, having this time with them is the most important thing.

Let’s be real, making a big life change often comes with some financial adjustments. I’m sharing this because, like many of you, my partner and I have had to adapt. We’re definitely not living as lavishly as we did when I was working a traditional full-time job, and that’s okay. It’s all about prioritizing what truly matters and finding happiness in a simpler lifestyle.

She explained that their current financial situation is different from when she was employed, and they’ve had to adjust by simplifying their lifestyle and spending less.

They’re carrying that same approach into planning their wedding, which will be held in their backyard next February.

‘Having something extravagant seems silly,’ she said.

It’s not about the cost, it’s about showing we care for each other. I don’t want to go overboard with spending on just one day.

Instead, the ceremony will be intimate, with close family involved.

In addition to planning her wedding, Sam has started a new podcast called Cracking On with her former Home and Away co-star, Sarah Roberts.

The show focuses on how people bounce back from difficult experiences. Host Sam explains they invite guests to share times they faced major challenges – like losing a job or going through a divorce – and how they persevered through them.

Looking back on her youth, Sam realizes she was trying to find something she couldn’t quite put her finger on.

‘I think back on who I was, and I was so desperate to be loved; so desperate to find it,’ she said.

For most of my twenties, and even as a teenager, I really longed to find someone to love. Looking back, I feel a little sad that I felt so dependent on finding that connection.

Now, she says, that longing has finally been fulfilled – largely thanks to her family.
