Sacha Baron Cohen praises ex-wife Isla Fisher as ‘the funniest person, a brilliant talent and a fantastic mum’ in a gushing post as she turns 50

Sacha Baron Cohen celebrated his ex-wife Isla Fisher‘s 50th birthday with a heartfelt message, calling her incredibly funny, talented, and a wonderful mother.

The actress and Sacha Baron Cohen, 54, publicly announced their separation in late 2023 after 14 years of marriage, and their divorce was finalized in June of the following year.

It’s so lovely to see Sacha and their ex-wife getting along! Sacha just shared a really sweet photo to celebrate their ex’s birthday – it’s of their daughter, Isla, looking adorable in a bright orange cap while enjoying a cafe by the beach. It really shows there are no hard feelings between them, which is wonderful to see.

Sacha wished their friend a happy birthday, calling them the funniest, most joyful, and most talented person they knew, as well as a wonderful mother. They expressed hope that the next ten years would be even happier.

The former couple share three children: daughters Olive, age 18, and Elula, 15, and a son, Montgomery, who is 10.

This news follows Isla’s recent sharing of how she’s spent the past two years since her breakup with Sacha – by concentrating on her career and personal growth.

Sacha’s approach to single life though has so far been in stark contrast to Isla’s.

Just three months after finalizing their divorce, actor Sacha Baron Cohen, known for his role in ‘Borat,’ was reported to be dating a new partner: 27-year-old model Hannah Palmer.

In November, the actor was photographed with 26-year-old social media personality Kelsey Calemine, who is 28 years younger than him.

Isla recently told NewBeauty that going through a divorce has been incredibly difficult. She explained that there’s a unique understanding among those who’ve been divorced – a shared experience of grief that others just can’t fully grasp.

Isla brightened up, saying, ‘Divorce can actually be a really exciting opportunity to reinvent yourself. It’s a chance to think about what’s truly important to you, try new things, and build the life you want.’

She explained that she’s enjoying having the headspace and time to focus on herself.

She explained it’s similar to rediscovering hobbies you enjoyed as a child, things you had to give up while focusing on raising a family.

This refers to relationships you have that weren’t your main focus while you were married.

It’s wonderful to see long-lasting, positive relationships being celebrated and taking priority again. It feels really hopeful and inspiring.

I’ve really been focusing on the good things that have come out of everything, and honestly, it’s led to a lot of self-discovery. I’m learning to be kinder to myself, which is something I really needed.

‘I can just give myself grace whenever I like. That’s all I’m trying to do.’

Last year, Isla admitted she is not looking to date again anytime soon in the wake of her divorce.

She told The Sunday Times that dealing with that wasn’t something she was prepared for right now. She explained that her own parents’ separation when she was nine led her to hope for a similarly amicable split if she ever faced that situation.
