Sources say Ruth Langsford is deeply upset and feels powerless after her former husband, Eamonn Holmes, had a stroke last week.
GB News presenter, 66, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday after feeling unwell. A recent statement confirmed he is recovering well.
After separating from Eamonn in May 2024 following 27 years together and 14 years of marriage, 66-year-old Ruth is reportedly struggling with the urge to visit him. He is currently receiving support from his girlfriend, Katie Alexander, 44.
According to a source, Ruth is feeling devastated and powerless. Her first impulse is to rush to his side or call him, but she remembers she can’t. He now has Katie with him, who has been constantly at his bedside praying for him to get better.
She then mentioned their son, Jack, age 24, was keeping her informed about Eamonn’s health. It’s been reported that Jack hasn’t been close to his father since their separation.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this situation closely, and it’s been heartbreaking to witness. She was really struggling with the breakup – it felt like reliving the pain all over again. She understandably felt a lot of anger and hurt towards Eamonn, but something shifted this week. With his health taking a turn, she’s put those difficult feelings aside. It’s amazing to see her natural instinct to care for him and want him to recover.
It’s been difficult for her to stay back and not intervene, which goes against her instincts. Ruth is a very caring person, so she’s understandably upset by this news.
The Daily Mail have contacted Ruth’s representatives for comment.
This follows Eamonn’s first public statement since announcing he had a stroke. He shared a heartwarming message from his family on Sunday.
I was so touched by his latest update! He shared a message with a caption that just melted my heart – apparently, his adorable granddaughters told him he’d do his best to get better soon, and he shared that with everyone. It’s so lovely to see his family supporting him, and it gives me hope he’ll be back to his old self quickly!
‘Thank you for all of your many many good wishes, they give me strength.’
Just hours earlier, Eamonn’s son Declan said the stroke had come as a ‘real shock’ to the family.
He shared a quick message saying his family is very grateful for all the kind messages they’ve received.
It was a huge surprise, but Dad is recovering as well as can be expected, and we’re just focusing on getting through things day by day.
‘For now, we’re focused on him and keeping things steady around him.
We’re going through a really tough time right now, and we’d truly appreciate a little space to process everything and figure out what comes next. Your support has meant the world to my dad and all of us – it’s been a huge comfort.
Last month, Ruth shared that she started therapy and spent several weeks crying during her sessions after her divorce.
The TV personality shared that getting help was the most beneficial step she took, and it’s even given her hope for marriage someday.
I was so fascinated to hear Ruth Langsford on Fearne Cotton’s podcast. She described going to therapy as the best thing she’s ever done, and it really resonated with me. She explained that because the therapist didn’t know her and Eamonn – just what they presented on TV – it allowed for a totally unbiased space. It wasn’t about taking sides, but simply letting her talk and gently guiding the conversation. It sounded incredibly freeing.
I used to do it once or twice a week, but now it’s less frequent, though I still do it. She’s told me I can always reach out, and I often find myself remembering her encouraging words – little phrases that help me cope.
Ruth explained that for the first three therapy sessions, the therapist couldn’t make eye contact with her because she spent the whole time crying into her hands.
One of the first things she told me was that my marriage was finished, and she was very direct about it. I admitted I already knew, and she replied that I wouldn’t be able to heal and move forward until I truly accepted that fact.
‘That stuck with me. Once you accept it, and go: “The fight’s over, isn’t it?”‘
Ruth talked about the chance of falling in love again, but said it wasn’t something she was actively pursuing right now.
