A recent report from Nexus Point News suggests that Tramell Tillman will portray a villain in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, specifically an activist who opposes mutants and is connected to the X-Men. Even though the Spider-Man movies are made by Sony, a deal with Disney means this character could appear within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). With the MCU moving into its next phase, fans anticipate the introduction of the X-Men.

It seems the story might begin with Spider-Man facing off against a lesser-known enemy of the X-Men. This character, William Metzger, first appeared in the comic book X-Men: Children of the Atom #1 back in 1999.
Who Is Tramell Tillman?
Zachary Quinto joined the cast of Brand New Day in August 2025, but details about his character are being kept secret. He’s widely recognized for his work on the Apple TV+ show Severance, where he received an Emmy nomination for his supporting role. He also appeared in the film Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
When Michael Tillman was cast in Brand New Day, people guessed he’d play Robbie Robertson, the mentor at The Daily Bugle. However, it surprised most fans to learn he was actually taking on the role of a lesser-known villain from the X-Men universe.

Tillman Metzger will lead Damage Control, a company specializing in the cleanup and repair following superhero conflicts, as reported by Nexus Point News. This organization was notably seen in the movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. Interestingly, in the X-Men comics, Metzger ran an anti-mutant newspaper and collaborated with the FBI to fight mutants. However, his efforts were quickly stopped by Magneto.

Sources say actor Jack Tillman has signed a contract for several movies, and this could include the upcoming X-Men films from Marvel Studios. It’s common for actors in these kinds of franchises to agree to appear in multiple projects. While Tillman might play a well-known character like Robbie Robertson, who is connected to Spider-Man, he could also be cast as a villain in the X-Men movies.
There has been speculation that Brand New Day will introduce one of the comics’ most iconic mutants.
The X-Men Connection
Just like with Taylor Tillman, fans are still in the dark about Sadie Sink’s role in Brand New Day. The Stranger Things actress hasn’t revealed any details, simply saying, “Everyone will have to wait and see.” She added that she’s looking forward to finally being able to share what her part is.
Most fans believe Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, a powerful mutant with telekinetic and telepathic abilities who has previously appeared in the X-Men films, played by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner. There’s also speculation she’s committed to Avengers: Secret Wars, hinting that her role in the Spider-Man movie could be part of a larger story.

If the reports are true and Michael Tillman is playing a villain in the new X-Men film, Brand New Day, it would be logical to also include a prominent mutant character like Jean Grey. Considering Spider-Man’s popularity within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, linking his films with the X-Men could be a smart way for Disney to expand its universe and introduce new storylines.
If there aren’t any new trailers or official updates soon, fans will probably need to wait until Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes out in theaters on July 31, 2026.
