Talk about a refreshed version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance is getting louder. An insider, who accurately predicted the delay of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 last year, now says a significant update for the first game is coming early next year. Fans have been hoping for a version built specifically for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S for a while, and it appears that release might be only a few months away.
Although the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance is well-loved by RPG players, its sequel is a significant improvement. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has been highly praised by both gamers and critics, and is now a leading candidate for Game of the Year. Players have commended Warhorse Studios for enhancing the combat, building a bigger and more detailed open world, and maintaining a remarkable level of realism. However, the sequel faces stiff competition from other strong contenders like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Blue Prince, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and several other deserving titles.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance Current-Gen Update Rumored for 2026
So, back in July, I saw that Warhorse Studios was supposedly working on a new PlayStation 5 version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The info came from PlayStation Game Size on Twitter – they’re usually pretty spot-on when it comes to new PS4 and PS5 games. Now, it looks like we’re getting more details. Apparently, this current-gen version is planned for release in early 2026. A user over on Reddit (shoutout to Insider Gaming for spotting this!) – the same person who correctly predicted the delay of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 last year – is saying the original 2018 RPG will “get an upgrade early next year, between January and April.” They claim their source has 100% confirmed this, but I’m taking it with a grain of salt for now, just in case.

I’m really excited about the possibility of an update for Kingdom Come: Deliverance! While the leaker didn’t share specifics about what it might include – like a visual upgrade, new stuff to do, or changes to how the game plays – they *did* talk about the Lord of the Rings game everyone’s been buzzing about. Apparently, Warhorse Studios isn’t working on that one, despite what some people thought. The big news, though, is that they’re currently developing a completely new fantasy game! I can’t wait to see what they come up with. It’s great to know they’re still creating amazing worlds, even if it’s not Kingdom Come: Deliverance directly. This is huge!

I don’t think we’ll be hearing anything official from Warhorse Studios about their next project for a while. Since Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is still getting new updates and DLC, it wouldn’t make sense for them to announce something that might steal its thunder. They’ve said they’re planning to keep supporting Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 with updates and DLC all the way until the end of 2025, so if the rumors are true about an update to the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance , an early 2026 release would fit. But honestly, it’s just my guess for now!
