- The Recording Industry Association of America reports that Latin music generated $1 billion USD in US revenue last year
- The figures reflect a new wholesale reporting standard adopted to align with international industry benchmarks
- Over the past decade, the genre’s stateside revenue has skyrocketed from $140 million USD in 2015
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) reports that Latin music revenue in the US surpassed $1 billion in 2025.
Latin music is becoming increasingly popular in the U.S. and is now a major force in American culture. Recent data shows that Latin music contributed a substantial amount to the $11.5 billion earned by the U.S. recorded music industry last year. This is a huge jump from just ten years ago, when it generated $140 million. The growing success was highlighted by Bad Bunny’s performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, confirming Latin music’s central role in American culture.
The RIAA has changed how it calculates music industry revenue to provide a more reliable financial overview. Previously, reports used estimated retail sales figures – for example, $1.4 billion for 2024. Now, the RIAA is using a “wholesale” standard, which reported $969 million for 2024. This new method aligns with international standards, allowing for better comparisons across different countries, and, according to the RIAA, more accurately shows how much money is directly benefiting artists and the music industry.
According to Rafael Fernandez Jr., a senior vice president at the RIAA, a new report highlights the continued success of Latin music. He noted that the genre is gaining popularity worldwide, with artists and fans connecting in new ways. Record labels are contributing to this growth by forging innovative partnerships and creating new opportunities.
