Rapper Offset released from hospital after shooting, says he’s ‘good’ but ‘planning to be better’

Offset is on the mend after he was shot in Florida earlier this week.

The rapper, formerly of Migos, posted on Instagram saying he’s doing okay and working towards feeling even better.

He shared that he’s prioritizing his family and health, and eager to return to making music. He’s come to understand that life is a mix of small victories and significant setbacks.

He continued: “Life’s a gamble and I’m still playing to win.”

Offset has been discharged from the hospital, according to a representative who spoke to the Associated Press on Friday.

Offset was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood for treatment.

Police have confirmed that rapper Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested Monday in relation to a shooting. However, a lawyer claiming to represent him posted on Instagram stating he wasn’t involved.

“Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting,” the statement reads.

Rapper Lil Tjay was arrested in Florida for disorderly conduct and other charges. His lawyer states he had no involvement in the shooting involving Offset.

Merritt, age 24, was arrested and taken to Broward County Jail in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday morning. He faces a charge of disorderly conduct and was also held due to an outstanding warrant related to a previous traffic incident. He was released later that afternoon after posting a $3,000 bond.

Kiari Kendrell Cephus, known professionally as Offset, has three children with his wife, Cardi B, from whom he is currently separated. He rose to fame in the 2010s as part of the hip-hop group Migos. Sadly, his Migos bandmate, Takeoff, was tragically shot and killed in Houston in 2022.

Offset and Lil Tjay made a song together called “Run It Up” in 2021. Later, Billboard reported that they had a falling out because of disagreements over money owed from gambling. Offset then released his third album, titled “Kiari,” in August.
