Prime Video’s “major” Jack Ryan movie confirms release date with action-packed trailer

Prime Video has released the trailer for Jack Ryan: Ghost War, a new action movie continuing the story of the Jack Ryan series. Starring John Krasinski (known for A Quiet Place), the film follows Jack Ryan, a former Marine and current CIA agent, and will be available to stream on May 20th.

Wendell Pierce, known from The Wire, returns as James Greer, Jack’s boss and the CIA’s deputy director, alongside his fellow cast members. Michael Kelly (House of Cards) and Betty Gabriel (Clickbait) are also back as Mike November, a private security contractor, and Elizabeth Wright, the CIA director.

The film features a talented cast including Sienna Miller, Mckenna Bridger, Max Beesley, Douglas Hodge, and JJ Feild. Andrew Bernstein, known for his work on Ozark, is directing. John Krasinski and Aaron Rabin, who worked on Nobody 2, co-wrote the script, drawing inspiration from the world of Tom Clancy’s Ryanverse.

Okay, so from what I’ve heard about the new movie, Jack Ryan gets pulled back into the spy game – whether he likes it or not! Apparently, a secret mission goes wrong and uncovers a really dangerous plot. He ends up facing off against a shadowy, off-the-books military group, and it sounds like everything is happening super fast – a real race against time!

With lives at stake and the danger constantly increasing, Jack teams up again with experienced CIA agent Mike November and his former boss, James Greer. Their combined skills are their only advantage against an enemy who seems to anticipate their every action.

I’m so excited for the new mission! Jack and his team are teaming up with this incredible MI6 agent, Emma Marlowe, played by Sienna Miller, and things are getting really intense. It looks like old enemies are resurfacing, and this mission is hitting way closer to home than anything they’ve dealt with before. Seriously, the stakes are higher than ever, and it feels super personal for everyone involved.

Before the movie comes out, John Krasinski has given fans a hint of what to expect. He told Collider in May 2025 that making a movie was a lot of fun after doing a long-form TV series. He explained that they were able to speed up the story and increase the suspense, allowing them to include more exciting action sequences that weren’t possible in the TV show.

Jack Ryan: Ghost War will premiere globally on Prime Video on 20 May.
