Prime Video has become a major streaming service by successfully taking chances on lesser-known stories and transforming them into popular shows. They’ve done this many times, but a prime example is their recent adaptation of a science fiction comic book series that began over two decades ago.
Before becoming the hugely popular streaming series it is today, Invincible wasn’t well-known to most people. While the comic book had a dedicated following after running for 15 years, adapting it into an animated show was a big risk. Luckily, the superhero series turned out to be a surprisingly brilliant success.
Comic Book Fans Weren’t Sure Invincible Was Going To Work
Even though the Invincible comic books were incredibly popular, many viewers wondered if the story would work as a TV show. Historically, a lot of superhero adaptations have avoided extreme violence or difficult topics. This was a concern for Invincible because the comics were known for being daring and pushing boundaries.
The comic book series Invincible contained very violent scenes, and some were so intense that fans feared the TV adaptation would have to tone them down. There was also concern that, because Invincible isn’t as widely known as Marvel or DC comics, Amazon might not have invested enough money into making the show properly.
Despite having a lot of potential pitfalls, Prime Video successfully adapted the Invincible comic into a fantastic show. With great characters and a compelling story, it’s easily become one of the best superhero projects of the last ten years.
How Prime Video Made Invincible Into A Mainstream Success
Despite not being a guaranteed hit, Prime Video’s Invincible became incredibly popular. This success has led to several spin-offs, including video games and a comic book, and even a live-action movie is now in development – all thanks to the show’s large and dedicated fanbase.
As a huge fan, I really have to give Prime Video a lot of credit for backing this show. We’ve already gotten three seasons, and each one has eight episodes that are over 40 minutes long – it’s fantastic! What’s also amazing is the cast; they really brought these already great characters to life. Plus, the team behind the show actually listens to what fans want, and they’ve done a killer job promoting it, too.
Prime Video’s biggest success with Invincible was staying true to the original comic book. While there are some changes – a few stories are longer, and some are completely new – the show mostly follows the source material. This faithfulness has allowed the compelling and often violent story to reach a wide audience, which is a welcome change in the crowded world of superhero content.
How Many Seasons Will Invincible Have?

As a huge fan, I’m already counting down the days until season 4 of Invincible hits! While Amazon hasn’t given us a definite answer on how long the show will ultimately run, we do know it’s been renewed for at least another season, which is fantastic news. Robert Kirkman, the creator, has talked about his vision for the ending a few times, and he’s aiming for somewhere in the range of seven to nine seasons total. That feels like a good length to really do the story justice, honestly.
While making it Prime Video’s longest-running original series in terms of seasons might seem like a big goal, it’s definitely possible as long as the show continues to be a hit. After all, creator Robert Kirkman is best positioned to know how much story Invincible still has to tell.
Even if Prime Video doesn’t officially renew the show past season five, that still seems like the most probable scenario. Considering Invincible continues to gain popularity, I anticipate at least seven seasons, and possibly even some spin-off series, for this fantastic superhero show.
