Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for its new series based on Pride and Prejudice, featuring Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden. The show, which has six episodes, will be available on the streaming platform this fall.
Corrin, known for her portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown, will now play Elizabeth Bennet. Lowden, a star of Slow Horses, will take on the role of Mr. Darcy.
Dolly Alderton, the author of a popular book, wrote the screenplay based on Jane Austen’s beloved 1813 novel, and Euros Lyn, who directed Heartstopper, is the director for this adaptation.
What to Read Next
The series will star Corrin and Lowden, with Olivia Colman and Rufus Sewell playing Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. Freya Mavor, Jamie Demetriou, Louis Partridge, and Fiona Shaw also join the cast.
The trailer begins with Corrin, playing the role of Elizabeth, seated on a rooftop watching the sunset while the sound of approaching horses can be heard.

Next, a series of quick scenes play out, featuring a letter seemingly from Mr. Darcy, Elizabeth running, and a meaningful look she shares with someone while dancing.
As the trailer ends, Lowden’s Mr Darcy is shown on horseback.
Last year’s announcement of the series described it as a true-to-the-source and traditional adaptation, designed to bring these funny and complex characters to both existing and new audiences.
As a huge fan of this story, I was so excited to hear about the adaptation! The writer, Alderton, put it perfectly – it’s rare to get a chance to revisit a classic like this, and she feels incredibly fortunate to be involved, and honestly, so do I!
Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the original romantic comedy, and it’s been wonderful revisiting the story to discover new and classic ways to share it with audiences.

I’m thrilled that, under the direction of Euros Lyn, we’re bringing these funny and complex characters back to both longtime fans of Pride and Prejudice and those discovering the story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy for the first time.
The novel Pride and Prejudice was most recently made into a movie in 2005, with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen as the lead actors.
The 1995 BBC miniseries is widely considered the most popular adaptation, and it launched Colin Firth to fame with his portrayal of Mr. Darcy. Jennifer Ehle played Elizabeth in the series.
Pride and Prejudice will stream on Netflix.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Taylor Swift, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
