Singer Duffy, who has won a Grammy, has excited her fans by suggesting she might be making a comeback to music after a long break.
The singer known for her hit “Mercy” hasn’t released much music since her initial success, but rumors are circulating that she’s planning a return. These rumors include a new documentary on Disney+ and reports that she’s working with a new manager.
The popular singer, who is 41 years old, is reportedly working on her next project in private. Sources suggest a fresh direction for her music may be coming soon.
With a new documentary generating buzz, many fans believe the famously private pop star might be preparing to return to public life.
According to The Sun, Welsh singer Marina has recently started working with a manager from TaP Music, the company that also represents artists like Lana Del Rey, Loreen, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
She’s also said to have brought back the same PR firm she used before, MBC PR.
According to a source, Duffy previously stated she had no plans to return to making music, but circumstances have shifted.
Since she’s starting to work with new groups, people in the music business are excited and speculating about her return to music.
‘By the sound of it, there could well be new music from her before the end of the year.’
Daily Mail has contacted Duffy’s representatives for a comment.
I’m incredibly moved that the artist behind ‘Distant Dreamer’ is finally sharing her full story. She’s been through something absolutely horrific – a rape and kidnapping – and she’s bravely decided to open up with a new documentary. From what I’ve heard, it’s going to be a really powerful look at her experience, full of her pain, but also her incredible vulnerability and strength. I admire her defiance and I think this documentary will be important for so many people.
In February 2020, singer Duffy surprised her fans by publicly sharing a frightening experience for the first time. She detailed the ordeal in an open letter called “The 5th House” which she posted on Instagram.
Singer Duffy, famous for hits like “Warwick Avenue” and “Mercy,” revealed she was drugged during a birthday dinner, then kidnapped and sexually assaulted while overseas. She was later flown back home and held captive in her own house.
Disney+ revealed on March 25th that a new Hulu documentary will explore the experiences of the pop star.
The documentary, created by Fernando De Jesus for Rare TV, will feature never-before-seen access to singer Duffy, along with interviews with her family and friends and people from the music business.
Duffy rose to fame in the late 2000s, becoming a major music star. Her album, Rockferry, went multi-platinum, and the single “Mercy” was a worldwide chart-topper.
‘Everything was looking up. And then she disappeared.
For a decade, Duffy completely disappeared from music, social media, and public life, without offering any explanation.
I was absolutely shocked when Duffy shared her story in 2020. She bravely revealed something truly horrific that had happened to her ten years prior – she’d been drugged and kidnapped, then taken to another country where she suffered terrible violent and sexual abuse. It was a deeply upsetting revelation, and I admire her courage in speaking out.
‘It had a devastating ripple effect across her entire life, cutting her off from the world.
‘She’s barely been seen or heard from since – until now.’
Disney+ has ordered a new documentary from the UK, and Gill Callan will be directing it.
According to Sean Doyle, Disney+’s head of unscripted programming, the new documentary will focus on Duffy, a singer who achieved global fame fifteen years ago.
‘Her voice was distinctly recognisable and powerful.’
Singer Aimee Anne Duffy, known as Duffy, reappeared in a short TikTok video in March of last year, marking her first public sighting since stepping away from public life.
By June 2025, reports surfaced that she had begun working on a third album, marking her return to music after taking time away following a difficult experience.
According to a source, she’s ready to return to making music now that she’s had time to heal and move forward.
The Daily Mail contacted a representative for Duffy for comment at the time.
