The Pokémon Company is addressing concerns about the recently introduced trading feature in Pokémon TCG Pocket. This exciting new addition to the game, rolled out a few days ago, enables players to trade cards. However, it’s been met with criticism from the community, as many enthusiasts have expressed disappointment over the high costs, issues with Trade Tokens, and other concerns.
Pokémon TCG Pocket is working on improvements to address these concerns about the trading feature
Back in November 2024, the Pokémon TCG Pocket team announced their new trading feature. It had everyone buzzing with anticipation. But when it finally launched? Well, let’s just say that the excitement quickly evaporated. Fans were disappointed and even called it a joke. They weren’t happy about the way it was rolled out at all. As a fellow gamer, I can totally understand their frustration.

The developers shared that they put in place rules for the trading function to stop bots and unauthorized activities across numerous accounts, but some players feel this has negatively impacted their experience, suggesting that these changes were primarily implemented for revenue generation rather than addressing bot and issue problems.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that the team behind this game aimed to create a balanced and fair playing field for all, but it seems their initial plan didn’t quite hit the mark. But They’re actively digging deep, exploring solutions to improve the feature that’s causing concern. In their own words, “We’re proactively investigating ways to enhance this aspect of the game to address these issues.
The devs have promised to offer free Trade Tokens in various ways
Moreover, they’ve pledged to provide various methods for earning trade tokens. These include receiving them through events and even getting some for free. To clarify, Trade Tokens function as a fresh form of in-game currency essential for trading cards.
Instead, fans have voiced their discontent with the current token acquisition system, as it necessitates parting with many identical cards. To add insult to injury, trading a valuable card means discarding five identical ones of equal value, which seems excessive. Furthermore, there’s no in-game communication for trading purposes.

From my perspective, developers might consider introducing a level restriction or an age requirement for accounts as a measure to combat bots and multiple accounts used for trading. This could help minimize bot abuse temporarily while they work on refining their system. Frankly speaking, a trading card game isn’t enjoyable if the core trading system is lacking quality.
