Pokémon Long-Awaited Black & White Remake Has Gamers Divided

The Pokémon series recently turned 30, and over the years, it’s given us many truly memorable games. Which one is your favorite probably depends on when you were a kid, and honestly, there’s no bad choice!

With so many classic video games being remade or remastered lately, fans have been wondering which titles from Game Freak might get the same treatment. Pokémon Black and White has been a popular request, and recent news has significant implications for anyone hoping for a remake.

I was scrolling through Twitter (or X, I guess!) and saw that Centro Leaks – they’re usually pretty spot-on with these things – dropped a bunch of info about what Pokémon games might be coming up. The biggest news for me, though? They said there are no plans for remakes of the Unova region games right now, which is a little disappointing, honestly.

This news quickly ended any hope of current plans for remakes of Black and White, which understandably upset fans who reacted to it.

It seems like we’ve reached the end of traditional Pokémon remakes. The Indigo Disk DLC for Scarlet and Violet felt like the closest we got to revisiting the Unova region, and Legends Z-A brought us back to Kalos, essentially serving as the XY remake, according to one fan.

One fan mentioned they were most excited about the remakes of the Unova region games, explaining that they hadn’t played the original Black and White versions and were eager to experience them.

Some fans remain optimistic, with one expressing hope for remakes of the Black and White games. Another pointed out that the Diamond and Pearl remakes were developed by a different studio than Game Freak, suggesting a similar approach might be used for the Unova region games, which could be a positive sign.

Game Freak is currently focusing most of its resources on developing the first game in the tenth generation, Pokemon Winds and Waves. The game boasts a stunning map inspired by South-East Asia, and we’ve already gotten a preview of the initial Pokemon players will be able to choose, even though it isn’t scheduled to launch until 2027.

Fans of the classic game Black and White will need to be patient and hope the developers decide to bring it back, as more and more people are requesting a revival.
