Pi Coin Reclaims $1B Market Cap After Week-Long Slump

Key Highlights

  • Pi Coin’s market capitalization returned above $1 billion after remaining below the threshold for seven consecutive days.
  • PI traded near $0.093, up about 19% over the past week despite falling nearly 7% in the last 24 hours.
  • The rebound comes ahead of Pi Network’s Protocol v25 upgrade, scheduled for July 22.

Pi Coin’s value has risen above $1 billion after recovering from its lowest point in recent weeks. As of today, Pi is trading for about $0.093, making the total value of the cryptocurrency around $1.01 billion.

Pi Network’s value has risen above $1 billion again, but this achievement could easily change with future price fluctuations. Currently, around 10.94 billion Pi tokens are in circulation, and daily trading totals approximately $19.3 million.

As an analyst, I’ve been tracking PI’s performance, and it experienced a significant drop over the last day – almost 7%. The price fluctuated between $0.0874 and $0.1004. What’s also concerning is that trading volume decreased by about 28%, indicating less interest as the token’s value declined from its peak earlier in the week.

Pi Coin spent seven days below $1 billion

On July 12th, Pi Network’s value stayed over $1 billion, with CoinGecko reporting it at around $1.07 billion.

On July 13th, the company’s market value dropped to $995.6 million due to a significant price decrease. It stayed below $1 billion for about a week, reaching a low of $837.9 million on July 17th, according to data from CoinGecko.

On July 20th, the token’s market value reached around $1.004 billion and continued to increase the following day.

Following a low of around $0.0707 on July 14th, the price of PI has increased by over 30%. However, it’s still significantly down – almost 97% below its highest point in February 2025, which was about $2.98.

Protocol v25 upgrade approaches

As a researcher following Pi Network, I’ve observed a recent positive trend coinciding with their planned Protocol v25 upgrade on July 22nd. The Pi Core Team has explained that this upgrade is designed to make the network more stable and dependable. Importantly, it will also lay the groundwork for smarter, more private contracts on the Pi blockchain.

While the recent upgrade has helped bring PI back into the spotlight, it’s not the only reason the token’s value has increased. A general upturn in the cryptocurrency market has also played a significant role.

To stay valued at over a billion dollars, PI’s price needs to stay near $0.09 or higher. If the price drops significantly like it recently did, its overall value could fall below that mark.
