Phenomenal series that’s one of the best comedies on TV right now confirms final season release date

The fifth and final season of the acclaimed HBO comedy Hacks finally has a release date, bringing both excitement and the news that the series will be ending after these upcoming episodes.

The critically acclaimed series Hacks, known for its touching and often chaotic relationship between comedy icon Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and her young writer Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder), will conclude with a final season of 10 episodes. The premiere is set for Thursday, April 9th at 9pm Eastern Time. In the US, you can watch Hacks on HBO, and viewers in the UK can typically find it on Sky and NOW.

The new teaser for season five of Hacks starts right after the shocking ending of last season, where a false media report led everyone to believe Deborah Vance had passed away. The footage opens with fans mourning and creating a memorial outside Deborah’s home, and one fan exclaims “she has risen!” when they see Deborah step out of her car.

I was so excited to see the first sneak peek of Hacks season five, and I was really surprised to see Christopher Briney from The Summer I Turned Pretty joining the cast! It’s awesome to see Megan Stalter and Paul W. Downs are coming back, and I’m happy Carl Clemons-Hopkins and Robby Hoffman will be returning too.

Many viewers anticipated that season five would be the end of Hacks, and the official announcement, while expected, is still disappointing for fans of the show. Throughout its run, the series has been highly praised, earning numerous awards – including a Critics’ Choice Award, a GLAAD Media Award, five Golden Globes, and nine Primetime Emmys for both the show itself and its talented cast and crew.

Just before winning the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy, Hannah Einbinder told Variety that the fifth season would be the last for the show.

She admitted in September that finishing the final season felt both happy and sad. However, she believed it was the right decision, explaining that it’s good to end things while they’re still good – to not overdo it and to experience all the emotions, both joyful and heartbreaking, that come with saying goodbye.
