A recent security breach gave someone unauthorized access to our systems, resulting in the theft of personal information. This included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, bank account details, usernames and passwords, as well as private health records. State ID numbers and health insurance information were also compromised.
As a researcher, I discovered a data breach occurred around October 7th, 2024. This breach exposed the personal and sensitive information of 624,496 individuals.
The lawsuit against Healthcare Services Group, which resulted in a settlement, accused the company of several wrongdoings, including carelessness, failing to act in patients’ best interests, unfairly profiting from its services, and breaking rules designed to protect consumers.
The settlement will pay for legal fees and offer those affected free credit monitoring and identity theft protection for three years.
Those who qualify may be able to get back money they’ve spent out-of-pocket, up to $5,000, and could also receive extra cash payments.
Although the company believes it wasn’t at fault, it decided to settle the claims to avoid a lengthy and costly legal battle.
You need to submit your claim before October 1st, 2026. This is because a final court hearing is planned for September 24th, 2026.
