Peaky Blinders movie Cillian Murphy dons his iconic Tommy Selby costume as filming officially begins on the much-anticipated film at a secret location in Liverpool
As a long-time fan of Peaky Blinders, I must admit that reading this news fills me with immense excitement! Collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper again on the film version of such an iconic series is truly a dream come true. The chemistry between the cast and the gripping storyline have always been the heart and soul of Peaky Blinders, and I can’t wait to see how it translates onto the big screen.
Principal photography for the movie titled “The Immortal Man,” set in Liverpool, commenced secretly on Monday.
48-year-old lead actor Cillian Murphy put on his famous Tommy Selby outfit and posed for a photo to celebrate the special event, which he posted on Netflix’s official X account.
The Oscar winner played the gangster in the multi-award winning BBC series from 2013 to 2022 and is now back for a big screen outing, alongside new cast members Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth.
At an unidentified destination, it was observed that vehicles approached, accompanied by a strong security presence. This was done to permit only authorized individuals to gain entry to the premises.
Besides a shot capturing him in his role, Cillian also stood with the series creator, Steven Knight, during downtime on the filming location.
The caption read: ‘By order of the Peaky Blinders… Tommy Shelby is back’.
Cillian Murphy and Steven Knight have joined forces again on location, marking the official commencement of their upcoming Netflix movie’s production.
Information on the storyline is scarce, but it’s confirmed that the original author, Knight, will be back, along with Tom Harper who previously directed episodes from the initial season, taking charge once more.
Last month it was announced that Salburn star Barry had joined the cast, but details of his character have not yet been revealed.
Over the last several years, Barry has made a significant mark in his acting career, appearing in notable productions such as Saltburn, Top Boy, and The Banshees of Inisherin.
In June 2024, Netflix confirmed that production on the upcoming feature film will commence towards the end of this year as it has received the go-ahead.
It became official in June that the original creative team behind “Peaky Blinders,” including its writers and directors, would join forces once more, along with actor Cillian Murphy, for the Netflix movie version of the popular British show.

However, the recent news raises worries about the well-being of Paul Anderson, known for his role as Arthur Shelby, Cillian’s older brother on the show, as he admitted guilt to possessing crack cocaine earlier in the year.
The 45-year-old was also found to have amphetamines, plus diazepam and pregabalin on him.
His continued erratic behaviour in recent months has prompted concern for his welfare.
A nearby store owner, who considers Paul as a close acquaintance, shared with TopMob: “It’s truly distressing. He’s in a state. However, his unpredictable actions are creating genuine issues. Frequently, he appears bewildered and out of sorts.
