Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams celebrate with a sweet kiss as Hamnet wins BAFTA for Outstanding British Film after PDA-packed red carpet debut as a couple

On Sunday night, Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams shared a kiss after their film, Hamnet, won the award for Outstanding British Film at the 2026 British Academy Film Awards.

The 30-year-old actor who played William Shakespeare in the movie went to the event with his 26-year-old girlfriend. It took place at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Once Stormzy revealed the film’s win, the camera focused on the cast and crew of Hamnet, where Paul was seen affectionately kissing Gracie.

Okay, so I’ve been following them FOREVER, and apparently they’ve actually been together since 2024! Can you believe it? They’ve been so private about everything, totally keeping it under wraps, but now it feels like they’re finally letting us in on their world. I’m seriously losing it!

Paul received a BAFTA nomination for his supporting role in Hamnet, but Sean Penn won the award for One Battle After Another.

The stars of Normal People and their partner showed affection for each other on the red carpet, marking their first public appearance as a couple before the awards show.

The singer and actor shared a sweet moment when she kissed him on the cheek, and they gazed lovingly into each other’s eyes. She wore a striking black and patterned dress with an open back.

Fans were thrilled by the public display of affection between Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams. Many took to Twitter to express their excitement, with one user writing, “I just know Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams are going to get married soon <3”.

‘Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams making a stunning red carpet debut together—power duo moment!’;

Seeing Paul Mescal arrive with Gracie Abrams was a moment! My parents are definitely getting the hint – that red carpet debut was perfect.

When Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescal arrived, the red carpet instantly felt like something out of a film.

Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams are turning heads on the red carpet! They looked effortlessly charming together, and their chemistry definitely added to the excitement at the #EEBAFTAs.

Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams looked fantastic together at the BAFTAs, radiating charm and elegance – a truly stunning couple!

‘Effortless elegance Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams absolutely owned the red carpet.’

Paul was accompanied at the awards ceremony by his “Hamnet” co-star, Jessie Buckley, who looked stunning in a vibrant blue velvet gown.

Jessie took home the award for Leading Actress for her role as Shakespeare’s wife Agnes Hathaway.

Jessie is predicted to win the Best Actress Oscar, and she used her acceptance speech to express gratitude to the other nominees.

She expressed how honored she was, saying that as a child, she never imagined she’d have the opportunity to make a film, but here she is living that dream.

I met with my agent, Lindy King, in London, looking quite a mess – I had a terrible fake tan, large white hoop earrings, and a red polka dot skirt and top. Despite my appearance, I actually told her I hoped to become an actress like Judi Dench.

I honestly can’t believe she thought that could happen. This achievement truly belongs to the women who have inspired and guided me, showing me better ways to approach things.

While thanking her fellow nominees, Jessie momentarily forgot to mention Kate Hudson and jokingly asked the audience if anyone was missing. She quickly followed up, expressing her admiration for all of their amazing performances.

One Battle After Another was the major success story at Sunday night’s awards, winning six awards.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s acclaimed film was already a frontrunner with a record-breaking 14 nominations, and it ultimately took home the top prizes, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, a supporting actor award, and honors for its cinematography and editing.

Okay, so the night wasn’t a total disaster, but honestly, it stung so much when Timothée didn’t win Best Actor! Everyone was rooting for him, but a local actor ended up taking the prize. I was completely gutted for him, truly!

Although many expected Timothée to win for his performance in Marty Supreme, Robert Aramayo, known for I Swear, ultimately took home the award.
