Paul Mescal, 28, reveals he's 'convinced I'm not going to live a long life': 'It's a gut feeling, hopefully I'm wrong'

As a follower who has closely observed Paul Mescal’s career, I find his candidness about his feelings towards mortality both intriguing and somewhat relatable. Despite his youth, he seems to carry a maturity beyond his years, which is evident in his approach to life and work. His gut feeling of not living a long life may seem ominous, but it’s his hopefulness that truly shines through – a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

Paul Mescal has revealed he’s ‘convinced he will not live a long life‘.

In my line of expertise, I often find myself delving into the personal lives and health practices of individuals who embody peak physicality. Recently, this 28-year-old actor, shining brightly as the lead in Gladiator II, shared an unexpected insight – he harbors a ‘gut feeling’ that his life may be cut short. In a candid discussion about mortality, he expresses these thoughts candidly.

As a firm believer, I’ve long held the intuition that my lifespan might be limited. This notion doesn’t strike others as dramatic, but for me, it’s more of an inner certainty, akin to a persistent gut feeling. (Spoken to GQ Magazine)

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve pondered over the fear of aging and death that seems to grip many of us. For me, it’s challenging to envision myself as an octogenarian man. This struggle, coupled with my apprehension towards the inevitability of death, makes me question if I’d feel any differently if death were to knock on my door at 55 rather than at 90. Frankly, I find it hard to trust those who claim they’re ready for it; my response is usually a skeptical “Bullshit!

Paul said he has ‘always’ thought he wouldn’t grow old but hopes he is wrong.

He added: ‘It’s always in my head. I was like, Going to have a family young. I’m going to not survive a long time. Hopefully, I’m wrong. I think I will be wrong. But that’s just the truth around my brain.’

After Paul expressed his affection for the challenging physical training of Gladiator 2, it followed.

Later this year, I’ll be stepping into the character of the mature Lucius Verus, a son of Lucilla, who was previously portrayed as a child in the Academy Award-winning film from 2000, featuring Russell Crowe.

However, the actor from Normal People admitted that he struggled to quit alcohol and cigarettes while sculpting his chiseled body for the movie.

He expressed his fear that they might take away all the enjoyable things, including drinking and smoking, as he put it.

Instead, let’s rephrase it this way: Paul further mentioned that he requested his personal trainer, Tim Blakeley, to incorporate alcohol consumption and smoking breaks within his intense workout plan.

According to Paul, he expressed something like, “Tim, I intend to carry on with my drinking and smoking for a short while longer, if possible.

‘He very kindly incorporated them, not into the workout routine, but just into my life.’

In the year 2020, Paul gained widespread recognition for portraying intellectual character Connell Waldron in Normal People. However, viewers are expected to witness a completely different side of him when they watch Gladiator II.

This past season, videos of Paul engaging in his Gladiator-style strength training routine became quite popular on TikTok, particularly one where he performed dumbbell shoulder lifts consistently for approximately 23 seconds.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I can personally attest that having a fantastic fitness mentor played a pivotal role in sculpting my physical appearance for a recent project, much like how Paul spoke about his own transformation for the film. Moreover, I couldn’t have achieved this feat without the guidance of a team of nutritionists who meticulously advised me on when and what to consume for optimal results.

To the fans admiring my latest transformation, I’d like to share some insights: I was fortunate enough to have the top-notch trainer available, a fully-equipped studio, and a dedicated production team backing me throughout this journey.

To convincingly portray a character who can endure extensive violence throughout the movie, you should aim to create a compelling performance.

‘And you’re not going to survive that as someone whose running around Hackney.’

Simultaneously, he confided in Entertainment Tonight that his training sessions with Tim often consisted of lots of squats and lifting substantial weights.

During the filming process, the lead actor asserted that he was instructed to stop running for several months prior to filming – as his team concentrated on strengthening and increasing muscle mass instead.

He said during a video interview, he said: ‘The closer we got to filming, I was allowed to run again.’

Over the past four years, Paul has frequently been spotted running throughout London, demonstrating his energetic lifestyle.

cOn top of this, the star previously revealed that he loves going on walks too and is a keen boxer.
