Patricia Heaton pleads with ‘friends on the left’ to tone down radical rhetoric after White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting

Following the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, actress Patricia Heaton has encouraged her friends on the left to tone down overly harsh language.

Shots were fired near a ballroom at the Washington Hilton, leading to the evacuation of top US officials, including President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. The shooting occurred after a gunman exchanged fire with Secret Service agents in the hotel lobby.

Thirty-one-year-old Cole Tomas Allen is accused of firing several shots, hitting one Secret Service agent before he was apprehended and taken into custody.

The next morning, 68-year-old actress Doris Heaton, famous for her role on the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, used X (formerly Twitter) to criticize liberals she believes use harsh words and encourage violence against those they disagree with politically.

Heaton is a well-known conservative actress in Hollywood. She’s openly supported Republican ideas and the pro-life movement, and is very proud of her Christian beliefs. She has also expressed hope for the success of Trump’s presidency while encouraging Americans to come together.

The actress explained that while she didn’t support Clinton, Obama, or Biden when they won elections, she never labeled them as fascists, dangerous, or a threat to democracy, nor did she ever wish harm upon them.

I continued living my life feeling thankful. To my friends, please consider this idea – it could improve both your life and our country.

According to reports, the suspect, Allen, from Torrance, California, attacked a security checkpoint during dinner while carrying a shotgun, a pistol, and multiple knives.

He was tackled by agents after a brief but terrifying exchange of gunfire in the hotel lobby.

The ballroom was packed with important people – leading journalists, famous actors, and high-ranking government officials like Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio – and quickly descended into chaos.

The video depicts people dressed in formal wear—tuxedos and gowns—taking cover under tables while Secret Service agents secure the ballroom.

Still dressed in his tuxedo, Trump spoke to the country a couple of hours later. He stated with determination, ‘When you make a difference, they come after you.’ He also rejected the idea that the individual in question acted alone, saying, ‘We won’t allow anyone to take control of our society.’

The White House announced the dinner will be rescheduled within the next 30 days, and they plan to make the new event even more impressive.

Washington is currently on high alert after another attempt was made on the President’s life.

Investigators have learned that Allen penned a disturbing manifesto before going to the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the dinner was taking place.

I’ve been following this case closely, and it’s heartbreaking. Apparently, Allen had been sharing some really troubling things he’d written with his family before the shooting. His brother was so worried, he actually contacted the police because of it. What’s particularly chilling is that, according to reports, these writings didn’t mention anything specific about the attack on Saturday, so it’s hard to imagine anyone could have fully predicted this.

Just before the attack, Allen’s brother alerted the New London Police Department in Connecticut to the manifesto, according to a White House official who spoke with CNN.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated he’d been made aware of the report and expressed his desire that the department had notified federal authorities sooner.

According to a White House official who spoke with CNN, investigators with the US Secret Service and Montgomery County Police questioned the suspect’s sister in Rockville, Maryland.

In a disturbing document, Allen reportedly made fun of the poor security measures both at the event itself and during his trip to Washington D.C.

He explained his motives for the attack, outlining how he planned it and complaining about the surprisingly weak security measures he found.

‘What the hell is the Secret Service doing?’ Allen wrote in a postscript to his manifesto.

I fully expected intense security – cameras everywhere, hidden microphones in my hotel room, armed guards constantly watching, and metal detectors all over the place. But honestly, there’s nothing here. It’s almost like they’re playing a joke on me!

The teacher, who had become extremist in their views, felt a sense of superiority at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the dinner took place.

Allen noted that all security measures are located outdoors, pointing out that no one had considered the possibility of someone arriving and checking in the day before the event.

He described the security as extremely weak, stating that if he were an Iranian operative instead of a U.S. citizen, he could have easily smuggled in a large machine gun without anyone detecting it.

Ma Deuce is a nickname for the M2 Browning .50-calibre machine gun.

Allen previously stated in his writings the reasons behind his attempt to enter the dinner and harm leading members of the Trump administration.

He stated he could no longer support someone he considers a criminal – likely referring to President Donald Trump. He explained that, as an American citizen, he feels personally responsible for the actions of his elected officials.

The person believed to be responsible for the shooting said they had been planning something like this for a while, and this was the first time they felt they could actually act on it.
