Despite not being a major hub for science fiction, Paramount+ did offer one standout show: a series that successfully blended the styles of Star Trek and Star Wars. While Paramount+ has the extensive Star Trek library, it generally doesn’t have as much sci-fi content as streaming services like Apple TV+ and Disney+.

Although Paramount+ doesn’t have a massive selection of science fiction shows, Halo, which spans two seasons, is one of its strongest offerings outside of the Star Trek universe. Despite not being a Star Trek show, Halo shares several similarities with that franchise, and even borrows some ideas from Star Wars. This combination creates a compelling sci-fi series that successfully captures the appeal of classic, highly-regarded franchises.

However, it’s worth noting that the Halo series differs from the video games it’s based on, which follow Master Chief’s fight against the Covenant. Halo Is One Of The Few Quality Sci-Fi Options Paramount+ Offers

For many Paramount+ subscribers, the main draw of Halo is a lack of other good science fiction options. The streaming service heavily relies on Star Trek to fill its sci-fi catalog, and most of its science fiction TV shows, both old and new, are part of that franchise.

Besides The Twilight Zone and Star Trek, Paramount+ hasn’t invested much in science fiction. The platform has prioritized other types of shows, like the Western Landman, the fantasy series School Spirits, and dramas such as Yellowjackets and Dexter: Resurrection. Halo stands out as one of the few sci-fi shows available on Paramount+, and it’s one of the only original series the streamer has created in the genre.
