First Glance: “Supergirl”

It’s tough to get a read on what “Supergirl” will be like. The trailer shows Kara as someone who enjoys partying a bit too much, getting into trouble with some shady people while traveling in space. There are some scenes with her digital dog, Krypto, and she mentions her home planet, Krypton, which James Gunn previously altered in his Superman film. The most promising part is a quick, two-second shot of Jason Momoa as Lobo. Otherwise, it feels like a standard James Gunn-style movie, even though he didn’t direct it.
