So, here we go again. Some genius over in Oregon thinks Coinbase is selling unregistered securities to state residents. Like we needed more drama right after the big federal SEC case got tossed out. It’s like watching a rerun nobody asked for.
Paul Grewal, Coinbase’s Chief Legal Officer, basically called out the Oregon AG for being a copycat. “They’re just picking up where Gary Gensler’s SEC left off — can you believe it?” he grumbled. “Honestly, who asked for this? Shouldn’t we be focused on literally anything else right now?”
“Today the Oregon AG is bringing the dead back to life with a copycat case of the SEC’s lawsuit against Coinbase. By the way, the SEC threw that case out with prejudice. This political shenanigans is a fantastic way to waste Oregon taxpayer money.”

Regulations So Fragmented, Even Patchwork Quilts Are Jealous 🧵
Here’s the deal: the crypto world in the U.S. is like a bad soap opera — legal wins at the federal level, but states keep throwing their own curveballs. It’s like trying to build a national highway but every state insists on different speed limits, road signs, and, of course, toll booths.
Experts warn if states keep playing this “let’s sue them ourselves” game, it’s gonna be a total nightmare for Web3 companies trying to do business across state lines. Oregon might just be the opening act in a lawsuit tour nobody bought tickets for.
