Oprah Winfrey is responding to online criticism about how she walked at Paris Fashion Week, where she attended an event with her friend Gayle King. Some people on social media made fun of her walk, and she’s now addressing those comments.
The 72-year-old media executive turned heads at the Chloé fashion show in Paris on March 4th, after noticeably losing weight and displaying her new figure during fashion week.
You know, everyone was talking about her incredible outfit, but honestly, it was the videos of her carefully making her way down the red carpet that really took off online. And it wasn’t just her – her partner, at 71, was moving just as carefully behind her. It was a sweet, relatable moment that everyone seemed to connect with!
People online immediately reacted to the video, with some saying she seemed confused and unstable. Others wondered if a previous knee injury was bothering her, while some playfully commented that both people in the video looked older than they are.
Oprah Winfrey didn’t want the online conversation to be the last word on the matter. She quickly responded to the discussion in a video shared on social media, addressing it directly while taking a break from filming.
And according to Winfrey, there was a perfectly logical reason behind the much-discussed walk.
Someone online started making fun of Gail and me, commenting that we walked like very old people,” she explained, which got a laugh from the crowd.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what Oprah told me! Apparently, this whole embarrassing thing happened the second she walked into the Chloé show. I mean, can you imagine? She was just arriving, and then it happened! I’m obsessed with knowing every tiny detail of her life, and this just proves she’s so real, even at a fancy fashion show!
I remember walking into the Chloe fashion show, and my assistant had just given me a pair of Chloe sunglasses as I was getting out of the car.
She chuckled, explaining that she usually wears glasses or contacts, making it clear these weren’t prescription lenses, and the audience seemed to understand where she was headed with the story.
‘I didn’t know where I was walking, I could not see,’ she added as the audience laughed.
People were saying I was walking like a very old person, but I didn’t understand! I kept telling security, “I can’t see where I’m going! Please tell me where to walk!”
Gail broke two toes and couldn’t walk, which is why we were moving so slowly and seemed really old.
Oprah Winfrey recently had a moment that went viral online, and it happened shortly after former Entertainment Tonight host John Tesh shared memories of a short romance he had with her when they both first started out in television.
The 73-year-old told Page Six that he dated Oprah Winfrey when they both worked at different TV stations in Nashville. Their relationship was noticed by people at the time.
He acknowledged that dating as a Black woman and a white man was ‘really awkward at the time,’ and said their relationship ‘stood out’ in the South.
‘My whole family grew up in the South, and so I was obviously aware of that,’ he said.
Still, the two refused to let public reaction derail their relationship.
He remembered they’d developed a running joke about their limited time together. Because of their demanding schedules, they rarely saw each other outside of work. They’d often work all day and then, when they finally had a chance to connect – usually just once a week – one of them would jokingly ask, ‘Which restaurant should we go to tonight?’
Even though their relationship didn’t last long, Tesh noted that Winfrey showed clear potential for success from the very beginning.
Tesh is currently married to actress and writer Connie Sellecca. They got married in 1992 and have one daughter together named Prima.
Winfrey, meanwhile, has been with longtime partner Stedman Graham since 1986.
In a 2020 article for O, The Oprah Magazine, she looked back on their many years of shared spiritual growth and connection.
At first, however, she wasn’t convinced.
Oprah Winfrey confessed she first assumed Billy Graham was a bit of a flirt and simply too good-looking to be interested in her. She remembered always seeing him with the same woman, so she didn’t give him much thought at the time.
That changed when they both visited a sick mutual friend in 1986.
She remembered leaving with him and asking if he’d like to grab a beer. He told her he didn’t drink, and still doesn’t – he hasn’t touched alcohol at all since she’s known him. (She added that she herself used to drink a lot of beer and wore cowboy boots every day.)
You know, when I met him, my first impression was… pleasant, but not a huge spark. He definitely ticked the boxes – tall, good-looking – but honestly, he was almost too attractive. It made me wonder why he’d even be interested in someone like me, if that makes sense!
I suspected he was a womanizer, and my producers agreed. They cautioned me against getting involved with Stedman.
Even though people initially questioned their connection, they formed one of the most enduring partnerships in the entertainment industry.
