Open world, first-person RPG Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is out now with a nice helping of dark fantasy to explore
2021 is proving to be a stellar year for fans of first-person role-playing games, with the quality just getting better. Last week saw the release of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, adding another excellent title to this year’s collection of explore-and-slash gaming experiences.
Located within the ominous realm of Corrupted Grail, drawing inspiration from Arthurian tales following the demise of King Arthur’s domain, The Fall of Avalon defines itself as “an homage to open-world first-person role-playing games.” Approximately lasting between 50 to 70 hours, it boasts a storyline with multiple paths, featuring well-voiced characters.
PC Gamer is set to publish a review for the game Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon soon. At this point in time, user reviews on Steam are overwhelmingly positive, with 87% of the 4,797 total reviews being favorable as reported at the time of publication.
It appears that Tainted Grail offers a wide array of character choices. The developers mention an alchemist-berserker, a blacksmith-mage-necromancer, and even a stealth archer as potential characters. Having multiple options is beneficial when the story branches, as this game supposedly does, into three unique open-world environments. Replay value is indeed crucial in games like this, isn’t it?
Besides the standard version, The Fall of Avalon offers a “sponsor” edition which comes with an artbook, the soundtrack, another artbook, and surprisingly, horse armor – just like its older sibling, Oblivion!
You can find Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon on Steam for $45, though it has a demo to try first. You can also check out official series website taintedgrail.com for more info.
