One of Elden Ring Nightreign’s Most Annoying Bosses Gets Stronger This Week

Players of Elden Ring Nightreign might want to brush up on their archery skills as developer FromSoftware is set to increase the challenge of one of its most frustrating bosses soon. The area where players engage Gnoster, Wisdom of Night, known as Expedition Sentient Pest, will be receiving an Everdark Sovereign variant. Similar to past Everdark Sovereigns, gamers must first overcome the standard Gnoster, Wisdom of Night before they can take on the upcoming tougher version.

In a recent post on X (previously known as Twitter), the official Elden Ring account showcased an image of the difficult duo and announced that the Everdark Sovereign version of the Sentient Pest will be accessible to Elden Ring Nightreign players starting tomorrow, July 2nd, at 6 PM Pacific Time/9 PM Eastern Time. This tougher version of the boss will become available after players have defeated the original boss, and it can be found at the bottom of the Expedition list from the Roundtable Hold, similar to previous Everdark Sovereigns.

The Everdark Sovereign, known as the Sentient Pest, will touch down in Limveld on July 3, 2025 at 03:00 CEST | 18:00 PDT (2/7) | 10:00 JST.

Currently, Everdark Sovereigns are temporary in nature. If you’re up for a tougher challenge with Gnoster, Wisdom of Night, set aside some time this week, as they usually disappear after seven days. Normally, a new Everdark Sovereign replaces the old one, but it’s uncertain whether this will happen next week. Moreover, if another Everdark Sovereign appears, we don’t know which boss will receive the increased difficulty level.

Despite Gnoster, Wisdom of Night from Sentient Pest being one of the most frustrating bosses in Elden Ring: Nightreign, enthusiastic players appear eager for the challenge, as evidenced by a Reddit post on the Nightreign subreddit where fans express their anticipation for the upcoming battle.

As per Metacritic, a site that aggregates reviews, it earned an average score of 77 based on 85 professional evaluations. In our assessment, we awarded the multiplayer-focused game developed by FromSoftware a rating of 4.5 out of 5.

The game Elden Ring Nightreign has a fantastic base to build upon, and with its focus on online gameplay, it could be the best post-launch support FromSoftware has ever provided for one of their games. I’m more eager for what’s to come in Nightreign than I have been for any other FromSoftware game before this one.
