Olivia Bowen reveals husband Alex has undergone a vasectomy as they rule out having anymore children after she ‘nearly died’ during traumatic birth of daughter Siena

Olivia Bowen shared that her husband, Alex, recently had a vasectomy. The couple made this decision after a difficult birth experience with their daughter, Siena, and have decided they don’t want to have more children.

The 32-year-old Love Island star and her 34-year-old husband, whom she married in 2018 after they met on the reality show, are parents to a six-month-old baby and a three-year-old son.

After experiencing a difficult delivery last year where she lost a significant amount of blood and nearly died, Olivia has stated she doesn’t want to have another child.

During an episode of her ITV2 reality show, Olivia & Alex: Parenthood, Olivia became emotional while describing a severe postpartum hemorrhage she experienced after her C-section.

Olivia recently shared in an interview that she and Alex are finished having children. Alex had a vasectomy, making it certain they won’t have any more kids.

There were many factors involved – things happening in our personal lives, circumstances around us, and outside pressures – but in the end, we simply feel whole and fulfilled.

She later told The Sun that feeling fortunate to have two children, combined with the experience of Siena’s twin, led her to decide she didn’t want to go through another pregnancy.

A vasectomy is a surgical procedure that permanently prevents pregnancy by cutting the tubes that carry sperm. It means a man won’t need to use other forms of birth control afterward.

It can usually be done under local anaesthetic and takes about 15 minutes, according to the NHS.

The reality star has publicly discussed her health anxiety, which began after a life-threatening experience during her daughter’s birth in August.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what happened with Olivia! I was glued to the TV, and she was trying for this amazing, natural home birth – she even had a birthing pool set up! It was so inspiring, but then things started to go wrong. She was in SO much pain, they actually had to call an ambulance and rush her to the hospital! I was seriously on the edge of my seat, so worried about her!

We had a birth plan, but things didn’t go as expected. I had a feeling something wasn’t right, and after ten hours of labor, I had only dilated 5cm. Despite that, I was determined to keep going. Then I felt a lump and we decided to go to the hospital.

She explained that her bladder had shifted downwards, blocking the baby’s birth canal, which meant she needed a cesarean section.

I was terrified, because it was a major surgery and not a simple procedure,” she explained. “Seeing her come out crying was both amazing and moving, and holding her close made me feel lightheaded.

I remember the nurse announcing how much blood I was losing – numbers like 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, just kept increasing. It happened so fast, and I became terrified almost immediately. It was a truly frightening experience.

She began to cry and recounted that people started shouting, there was significant bleeding throughout the operating room, and that was the last thing she remembered.

Doctors kept coming and going, but nobody explained what was happening. I felt really unwell and dizzy, and Alex said I looked like I’d lost all color.

I recall being afraid to close my eyes, fearing I might faint or something even more serious could happen. It was a very frightening experience; I almost lost consciousness.

I lost almost three litres of blood, which is a significant amount considering the average person only has about 4.5 litres. Realizing how close I was to dying was incredibly frightening.

Olivia expressed her gratitude to the NHS, saying they saved her life, and shared how incredibly grateful she is to still be alive.

She said: ‘The doctors were absolutely incredible. The NHS were amazing, they saved my life.’

She stated she had begun to come to terms with the frightening experience, but her husband, Alex, confessed he was still deeply traumatized.

Olivia explained to him that she felt she had dealt with the experience, pointing out they’d managed the entire 20-hour labor at home, and even suggested he seemed more affected by it than she was.

Alex agreed, saying, “It was the worst experience of my life, and I never want to repeat it.”
