Oblivion Remastered: How to Fix Mages Guild Suspension
In the game Oblivion Remastered, the Mages Guild boasts a large number of members spread across Cyrodiil’s various holds. Players will frequently come across these mages. Yet, not all guild members are friendly, and some may actively oppose your objectives, potentially resulting in your character’s demise and ultimately expulsion from the Mages Guild.
Fortunately, characters who have been dismissed from the Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered have a chance to be reinstated, allowing them to carry on with their magical studies, participate in Mages Guild missions, and perhaps cause more mischief among the mages across the lands of Cyrodiil.
How to Get Unsuspended from the Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered
There are two ways that players can get suspended from the Mages Guild:
- Get caught stealing from Mages Guild members/buildings
- Kill anyone in the Mages Guild (regardless of whether you are in stealth)
Based on the reason for a player’s suspension, different actions are required to lift it. Regardless, the initial step remains consistent – seeking out Raminus Polus at the Arcane University within the Imperial City’s Arch-Mage’s Lobby. After conversing with Raminus Polus, he assigns tasks according to the offense committed against the Mages Guild. It is important to note that despite Raminus Polus requesting 20 of each ingredient, players only need to submit a single set containing 20 items.
Task | Available If | How to Get |
Collect 20 Dragon’s Tongues | Caught Stealing | Found around Fort Redwater on the Panther River, and the south region of Bravil. |
Collect 20 Redwort Flowers | Caught Stealing | Purchased from Alchemy stores and found within Fort Bulwark and the Blackwood swamp. |
Collect 20 Daedra Hearts | Murdered a Mages Guild Member | Purchased from Alchemy stores and looted from Dremora enemies found in Oblivion Gates. |
Collect 20 Vampire Dust | Murdered a Mages Guild Member | Looted from dungeons, commonly farmed in Barren Cave on the Blue Road. |
Since players need to gather numerous ingredients, employing the duplicate bug could facilitate a smoother process.
After acquiring any of the specified items (depending on the offense), players can go back to Raminus Polus to submit them, thus having their suspension lifted. But if players commit another crime and get suspended again, they will need to gather the mentioned ingredients in sets for redemption. In other words, if a player is caught stealing, they would now be required to present 20 Dragon’s Tongues and 20 Redwort Flowers, not just one or the other. The same rule applies to murder, as players must gather both 20 Daedra Hearts and 20 Vampire Dust instead of just one type.
Can You Be Permanently Suspended from the Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered?

If players accumulate three transgressions against the Mages Guild, whether it’s by stealing thrice from the guild or committing three murders, they will be permanently barred from the Mages Guild. If a player is contemplating such an act against the Mages Guild, it would be wise to save their game first, as once they reach their third offense, they will be permanently cut off from the Mages Guild. Arch-Mages, however, cannot be expelled and instead will have a bounty on their head. Yet, those suspended from the guild should bear in mind certain rules:
Players who commit three misdeeds against the Mages Guild (either by stealing or murdering) will be permanently kicked out of the guild. If a player is considering such actions, they should save their game first as this action will lead to a permanent expulsion from the Mages Guild. Arch-Mages are an exception and will instead have a bounty on them, but suspended members must remember some rules:
