In Zenless Zone Zero, Nicole is a high-tier agent who inflicts damage on ether anomalies. As a Support Agent, she excels at gathering minor foes using her EX Special and Chain Attacks. Moreover, she can aid the team by lowering enemy defense with her upgraded Basic and Dash Assaults.

Overview

Available on the standard banner and given as a free single copy as your starter support agent, Nicole, the leader of The Cunning Hares, is a support unit with the ability to group together smaller enemies. Her skills create an energy field that pulls together small enemies, similar to Venti in Genshin Impact, except at a much smaller scale. Apart from that, her support role is enhanced by the fact that when enemies are inside of the gravitational pull, their defense is decreased by 30% and Ether Damage dealt is increased by 25% for a short time, allowing your team to deal more damage, and making her especially good for an Ether team comp. Unfortunately, she falls a bit short when dealing with bigger enemies, as her energy field has no pull on them. With that out of the way, let’s get on to the best W-Engines, Disc Drives, Stats, Skills, Bangboo, and Teams for Nicole!

W-Engines

S – Weeping Cradle

⭐ Pen Ratio

• While off-field, Energy Regen increases by 0.6/0.75/0.9/1.05/1.2 per second. Attacks from the equipper enhance the squad’s DMG against a struck target by 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% for 3 seconds. During this period, this effect is further increased by 1.7/2/2.5/3/3.3% every 0.5s, up to a maximum additional increase of 10.2/12/15/18/19.8%. Repeated triggers only refresh its duration without refreshing the DMG increase effect. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
• As Nicole often attacks off field with her EX Special and Chain Attack, you will be able to proc this passive for your team quite often.

A – The Vault

⭐ Energy Regen

• Dealing Ether DMG using an EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, or Ultimate increases all squad members’ DMG against the target by 15/17.5/20/22/24% and increases the equipper’s Energy Regen by 0.5/0.58/0.65/0.72/0.8 per second for 2s. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
• As Nicole’s Signature W-Engine, this will be her best in slot after a couple of dupes, outranking Weeping Cradle. Nicole deals Ether Damage, so naturally this fits with her kit, and also ups her support game a lot with the passives from this W-Engine.

A – Unfettered Game Ball

⭐ Energy Regen

• Whenever the equipper’s attack triggers an Attribute Counter effect, all squad members’ CRIT Rate against the struck enemy increases by 12/13.5/15.5/17.5/20% for 12s. The bonuses triggered by the same type of passive effects do not stack.
• Nicole deals a lot of Ether Damage on her EX Special and Chain Attack, which is what you’ll be using her for in order to group enemies with her energy field, so if you’re against enemies weak to Ether, your team will have an easier time dealing crits, allowing them to focus more on crit damage.

Main Stats: IV. Anomaly Proficiency | V. Ether DMG | VI. Energy Regen

Sub stats in order of priority:

1.  Anomaly Prof | 2. ATK% | 3. Crit Rate or Crit Damage

Since Nicole primarily depends on her EX Special, Chain, or Ultimate skills to trigger her base abilities, a 4-piece Swing Jazz set complements her playstyle exceptionally well. Moreover, the additional energy regeneration and ether damage enhancements boost Nicole’s overall adaptability.

Option 2 – “All Mine!“

(2) Increases Ether DMG by 10%.

4) The enhancer’s Critical Damage Multiplier amplifies by a significant 20%. Whenever a character in the team activates Corruption’s extra damage, this effect escalates an additional 5.5% for a period of 8 seconds, with up to six layers of stacking. This duration resets whenever a new trigger occurs.

Main Stats: IV. Anomaly Proficiency or Crit Rate | V. Ether DMG | VI. Energy Regen

Sub stats in order of priority:

1.  Crit Rate | 2. Anomaly Prof | 3. ATK% | 4. Crit Damage

For optimal results, consider modifying this setup to have Nicole function as both a supportive Damage Per Second (DPS) character and a backup support, rather than strictly focusing on one role. This build works effectively when you’ve developed a decent critical hit rate, as it benefits from the increased critical damage offered by Chaotic Metal. Ensure that you prioritize improving your critical hit rate accordingly.

Skill Priority

ALWAYS PRIOIRITZE CORE SKILL FIRST!!!

Since Nicole’s EX Special is the main component of her toolkit, you’ll likely find yourself relying on it frequently, so prioritize mastering it first.

2. Nicole’s Chain Attack is particularly important due to its ability to cluster energy fields, placing it just behind her Special move in terms of priority.

3. You’ll find yourself utilizing Nicole’s Assist move more frequently compared to her standard attack and dodge, placing it as your third choice in priority.

4. After getting enhanced bullets, you will utilize Nicole’s Basic and Dash attacks to weaken the enemies’ defenses, placing both moves at the same importance, or 4th in line of priority.

5. After obtaining enhanced bullets, you will employ Nicole’s Dash and Basic Attack sequence to weaken your opponents’ defenses. This puts them on par with four other priorities.

Bangboo

S – Resonaboo

Feature: If your team has at least 2 characters with the Ether Attribute, the Bangboo Chain Attack will cause an additional 100% Anomaly Buildup.

For ethereal groups, this simplifies the process of inflicting Corruption, thereby streamlining the creation of builds centered around inflicting Corruption.

S – Amillion

Characteristic Feature – In case your team has two or more Wily Rabbits, the damage of Bangboo Chain Attack grows when there are less opponents present, reaching a maximum boost of 45%.

For the free-to-play “Starter” squad, this Bangboo is optimal because it significantly boosts your damage when you execute a complete chain attack sequence.

A – Devilboo

If you have at least two characters with the Ether Attribute in your team, the Bangboo Chain Attack will cause 40% more Anomaly Buildup. After using Bangboo Chain Attack, it enters a coordination state that lasts for 5 additional seconds and can be activated an extra 4 times.

A slightly weaker version of Reasonaboo, but will still greatly benefit Ether teams.

A – Avocaboo

Characteristic Feature: If you have at least one Ally character in your team, your Active Skill restores 20% more Health Points. Additionally, your Active Skill gains 3 extra uses.

A great general option for the F2P team if you do not have Amillion, as healing in the game is extremely rare, and in the end game, will become very useful with the less than stellar F2P team.

Optimal Team Comps

Team 1 – Ether

The team of Ether users, including Nicole, Zhu Yuan, and Anby, ensures that each member leverages their unique skills. Specifically, when Nicole is involved, her Core Passive: Mechanical Case weakens an enemy, causing all squad members to inflict 25% more Ether Damage on the target for a duration of 3.5 seconds. However, if your team doesn’t include an anomaly ether unit, it would be beneficial to incorporate either Reasonaboo or Devilboo to make triggering corruption easier.

Team 2 – Starter Team (F2P)

In this absolutely free-to-play group, you’ll find Anby, Nicole, and Ben working together effectively as a versatile ensemble. Anby specializes in stunning opponents, while Nicole offers support and manages enemy positioning. Ben excels with area-of-effect attacks and long-range physical damage. Since Ben serves as your main source of damage, you might experience some challenges in end-game situations due to this focus, but overall, it’s a powerful team that you receive for free, especially considering they all belong to the same faction. As an added bonus, each member’s special abilities are unlocked, further enhancing their capabilities.

Overall Thoughts

Nicole is an excellent choice as a support agent, especially since she’s free. She excels in rooms filled with smaller mobs thanks to her energy field. For Ether teams, she’s a robust pick. However, it’s worth noting that her effectiveness might dip slightly in advanced game stages, as elite and boss monsters are too massive to be influenced by her gravitational force. Regardless, her capability to reduce enemies’ defense and boost the team’s Ether damage makes her an invaluable asset for Ether teams.
