Just days before Brooklyn Beckham publicly expressed his frustration with his parents, David and Victoria, Nicola Peltz appeared to send them a pointed message.
David and Victoria Beckham’s oldest son shared a six-page statement on Instagram explaining he doesn’t want to repair his relationship with his family. He said he’s finally speaking up for himself, claiming his parents have long controlled how the family is portrayed.
It breaks my heart to say, but my parents have consistently tried to sabotage my relationship – it started even before my wedding and, sadly, it continues to this day. They just haven’t let up, and it’s incredibly painful.
Oh my gosh, it’s just… two days before everything blew up, she posted the most amazing picture on Instagram. She was wearing this tiny bralet, and honestly, she looked incredible. I’ve been screenshotting it ever since, it’s burned into my memory! It’s just… so shocking to think about that picture now, knowing what happened so soon after. I can’t stop thinking about it!
Nicola hinted at who she supports by revealing a new tattoo on her body.
The tattoo, which was written in Yiddish, translates to the phrase ‘family first’.
Recently, she’s been eager to share photos with her family – her parents and brother – to show them what’s most important to her. She celebrated her 31st birthday with them and Brooklyn this month.
Brooklyn and Nicola Beckham haven’t attended important family events lately, like his father David’s 50th birthday and his knighting, due to a growing and tense rift within the family.
Brooklyn stated that problems within his family started at his wedding in April 2022, alleging that his parents, Victoria, 51, and David, repeatedly attempted to sabotage his relationship.
Brooklyn stated he felt pressured by his family, who prioritized publicity over everything else. He also shared that being with Nicola has brought him a sense of calm and eased his long-standing anxiety.
Brooklyn also said Victoria canceled making Nicola’s wedding dress right before the wedding and interrupted their first dance, leaving him feeling so embarrassed that they quietly renewed their vows last year without his family present.
He also expressed frustration with his father, explaining that while he traveled to the UK for his brother David’s 50th birthday, his requests to meet beforehand were repeatedly denied. When his father finally agreed to a meeting, he insisted that Nicola, presumably a family member or partner, not be included.
Brooklyn recently shared a heartfelt statement, explaining that she’s remained quiet for years and has always tried to handle these issues privately.
I’m disappointed that my parents and their representatives keep talking to the media. Because of this, I feel I need to share my side of the story and correct some of the false information that’s been published.
I’ve decided not to try and repair my relationship with my family. This isn’t about someone controlling me; it’s about finally asserting my own needs and boundaries, which I haven’t done before.

Brooklyn discussed his marriage to Nicola, explaining that many people had tried to sabotage their relationship.
Talk of a disagreement began when the actress unexpectedly wore a beautiful, custom-made wedding dress by Valentino, despite earlier reports suggesting she’d chosen a gown by Victoria [Beckham].
Shortly after Brooklyn shared his statement, Nicola honored Valentino Garavani after his passing in Rome on Monday at the age of 93.
The heiress took to her Instagram Stories to share snaps of the designer.

My mom suddenly stopped making Nicola’s dress right before the event, even though Nicola was really looking forward to wearing it. This meant Nicola had to quickly find a replacement.
In the weeks leading up to my wedding, my parents kept trying to get me to legally change my name – offering incentives and putting a lot of pressure on me to do so. This change would have impacted not only me, but also my wife and any children we might have.
They insisted I sign the agreement before my wedding, as that would start the deal’s terms.

During wedding planning, my mum actually called me “evil” because Nicola and I wanted to seat my grandmother, Nanny Sandra, and Nicola’s grandmother at our table – they were both widowed. Both sets of parents did have their own tables, which were right next to ours.
The night before my wedding, some family members told me that Nicola wasn’t related to us by blood and therefore wasn’t really family.
Ever since I began asserting myself with my family, my parents have relentlessly attacked me, both in private conversations and through public statements to the media, which they directed to be released.
Even my own brothers turned against me, launching attacks on social media before unexpectedly blocking me last summer.
Cruz had previously stated that his family in Brooklyn had blocked him on social media, after it was reported they had stopped following his accounts.
My parents would never stop following me online. They woke up to find they were blocked – and so was I, apparently.
You know, Brooklyn was telling me about his first dance with Nicola at the wedding, and it was a bit of a funny story! Apparently, his mom ended up taking over – she just couldn’t resist joining in and leading the dance, which was a sweet, if unexpected, moment.
He explained that the experience left him feeling deeply uncomfortable and embarrassed, which led them to reaffirm their commitment to each other by renewing their wedding vows on their third anniversary.
David Beckham renewed his wedding vows on August 2nd in Westchester County, New York, but his family – including his sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, and his daughter Harper, 14 – weren’t there to witness the ceremony.
Brooklyn explained that at his wedding, Marc Anthony unexpectedly called him onstage. Instead of having his first dance with his wife as planned, his mother was waiting to dance with him. He described the dance as inappropriate and said it happened in front of all 500 guests.
Honestly, I was absolutely mortified – it was the most uncomfortable experience of my life. My husband and I had this beautiful idea to renew our vows, hoping to recapture the joy of our wedding day and create some fresh, happy memories. Instead, it turned into a really anxious and embarrassing situation. It was the opposite of what we wanted at all!

Victoria went all out to celebrate David’s birthday, beginning with a family gathering at their country home in the Cotswolds. They then spent a day at his beloved vineyard in France, and finished with a glamorous dinner party in London attended by many famous guests.
The family enjoyed a celebration with famous friends like Tom Cruise and David’s old teammates at the high-end Core restaurant in West London, but everyone noticed that David’s oldest son wasn’t there.
Brooklyn explained that his wife has repeatedly been treated poorly by his family, despite their efforts to build a unified relationship. He also mentioned that his mother has consistently invited women from his past into their lives, seemingly to cause discomfort for both him and his wife.
Even though things were difficult, we still went to London to celebrate my dad’s birthday. But he wouldn’t spend any one-on-one time with us while we were there, and we ended up stuck in our hotel room for a week trying to make plans. He only wanted to see us at his large party, which was full of people and cameras.
Honestly, when he finally said yes to meeting, it came with a really hurtful condition – he didn’t want Nicola there. It felt like a direct rejection, and it stung. Things got even worse when my family went to LA; they completely refused to see me, which was incredibly painful.
Brooklyn emphasized that his family prioritizes publicity and sponsorships above everything else, putting the ‘Brand Beckham’ image first.
These days, it seems like ‘family love’ is measured by how much we share online or how willing we are to rearrange our lives for a perfect family picture, even if it means sacrificing work or other commitments.
For years, we’ve made a real effort to attend all the fashion shows, parties, and media events, always presenting a picture of a perfect family. But when my wife asked my mother to help rescue dogs affected by the Los Angeles fires, my mother surprisingly said no.
It’s a misunderstanding to say my wife controls me. Actually, I’ve been the one controlled for most of my life – by my parents.
I used to struggle with intense anxiety, but since becoming independent from my family, it’s gone away. Now, I wake up each day feeling thankful for the life I’ve built and finally experiencing peace and calm.
My wife and I simply want a peaceful, private life and happiness for our family, away from public attention and interference.
The Daily Mail has contacted the Beckhams for comment.
Last summer, things got so strained between the Beckhams that Brooklyn reportedly asked his parents to communicate with him through their lawyers, Schillings and Harbottle & Lewis, according to the Daily Mail.
According to a source speaking with the Daily Mail, David was instructed to communicate with the other party only through his legal representatives at Schillings. This was the sole method of communication allowed.
Brooklyn prefers his parents not reach out to him directly or discuss him publicly on social media.
They hadn’t taken any legal steps against each other, and the letter itself wasn’t based on any legal grounds – it was just a simple request.
However, Brooklyn still remains in regular contact with both sets of grandparents.
